Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students & Families,
This week is Forecasting Week. Students have been selecting their classes for next year. This is a very important process that helps us make sure that students get the classes that they want and need for next year. Based on student selections, we plan the master schedule. We appreciate you talking with your students about the importance of this week.
This evening is a drop in Family Forecasting Event. This is a workshop where families can drop in to get individual help with the Forecasting Process. It is from 6:00-8:00 this evening in the library. Beginning next week, students will meet 1-on-1 with counselors to finalize their forecasting. We started this practice last year with incoming 9th graders to ensure they knew the courses they requested. This is a new step this year for CHS students to ensure students have classes that meet their educational needs. We are so grateful for your partnership in this important process.
This last week, we hosted our annual Festival of Dance event, where our state champion dance team debuted one of their state routines. Our wrestlers had senior night combined with an evening honoring our wrestling alumni. Our unified team is meeting with success, and many clubs and activities, such as OHSET, robotics, FFA, and Key Club, are in full swing. There are so many opportunities for students to engage at CHS--we encourage all students to get involved.
Have a Wonderful Week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Attendance and Sick Students:
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-excused absence forms need to be turned into the Attendance Secretary 24 hours PRIOR to leaving for the absence.
To report an absence, call our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Please report an absence as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after the absence.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
CTE Summit
All Canby School District families and community members are invited to the Canby High School CTE (Career & Technical Education) Summit. Please see the flyer below for more information.

FFA Alumni Auction: The FFA Alumni Dinner is Saturday, February 10th at 5:00 pm at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds. It helps support our students when going to state convention, scholarships, and even travel opportunities to Washington DC! Buying a ticket and bidding on items will go back to the students in all different ways.
We had 5 applicants this year to attend the Washington DC trip where students will network with kids across the nation, attend workshops, and participate in community service! We have over 20 kids attending the state convention in Redmond Oregon and about half are competing!
