Staff of the Week
Mrs. Lechner-Crosby is a 4th-year teacher, with all her teaching experience being here at Verona. She graduated from Wheaton High School, so she did grow up locally. She got her Associate’s from Crowder, did her pre-teaching courses at OTC, and got her Bachelor’s of Education at MSU. She is also halfway to achieving her Master’s from there. Her greatest accomplishment is getting to watch her students grow and succeed because of her. She explained, “I have my first college graduate this year!” She has three biological children: Corbin, Emma, and Willow; she has two stepchildren: Ty and Ceanna; and she has a nephew, Ryan. She married Aaron Crosby very recently also. If she wasn’t a teacher, she would be a fashion designer traveling the world. She enjoys to sew, spend time on the farm, fishing at the lake, and cooking/eating. Her favorite thing about Verona is the small size and diversity. “We are a big family and I love that!”
Student of the Week
Cheyenne Barnhart has always been one to stay out of trouble. She tries to make it through the day without being a nuisance and just focuses on her work. She is a model student and a very nice person. She plans on taking a year off from school and then going to college after she graduates. Her family consists of her little brother, her boyfriend, her mother, and Roxy, her Siberian husky. Cheyenne likes collecting keys and bottle caps, playing guitar, and she hopes to one day do lots of traveling. Her favorite teacher here is Mrs. Lechner because she feels like she can talk to her about anything. Cheyenne likes that Verona is a small community and not too much changes here. She would like to be allowed to listen to music more frequently, however, because it helps her concentrate.
