SCHOOL ACTIVITY UPDATES
Happy Holidays, Largo Community!
On behalf of the Largo High School community, we extend greetings to you and your families for a most enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. This is a season of reflection for many, and we are so thankful to have you and your children as members of our village.
Mourning the Loss of a Largo Teacher
Largo High School is mourning the loss of a legend. Beverly McNeill passed suddenly on December 11. She was the longest-tenured member of the Largo High School family having served our school for over 30 years, as a dynamic and devoted English teacher. Services for Ms. McNeill will take place on Wednesday, January 3 at City of Praise. The address for the church is 8501 Jericho City Drive Landover, MD 20785. Please continue to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Annual Maryland Report Card Data Released for the 2022-2023 School Year
Last week, the Maryland State Department of Education released report cards for all schools. Largo High School maintained its 2-star school status. A deeper dive into the data will take place for the school and parent communities in January. While this is most certainly disappointing news, it also offers urgency and intentionality in our return from the Winter break. For a look at last year's report card, please see the link below:
Student Honors at Largo High School
During the week of December 11, we held two in-house assemblies to recognize students who made the honor roll for the first quarter. Roughly 400 students were honored for their achievements. Take a look at the breakdown of the number of students recognized for academic achievement:
9th: 137
10th: 103
11th: 81
12th: 78
We are so proud of our Lions for their hard work and dedication to academic excellence. Please continue to encourage your children to strive for greatness!

Progress Report Window for Second Quarter
Progress report grades are now available via SchoolMax. We ask parents to monitor grades, and attendance, as those areas help to monitor student progress and allow us to monitor data to support our efforts for continuous improvement. If your child is not making satisfactory progress, please reach out to their professional school counselor to set up an appointment for a conference in the new year.
