Cullins-Lake Pointe Parent Connect
October 19, 2020
Hello Cullins Cowboys!
Hello,
Last week was a wonderful week of learning! The learners found spooky ghosts in the library, started a new chapter book with 6th graders, shared our writing in 1st grade to get feedback from our writing partners, experimented with light reflecting in 5th grade, and we are looking forward to welcoming in some of our learners who are returning from remote learning to in-person learning on Tuesday, October 20th.
Term #2 begins on Tuesday, October 20th. Term #2 will end on December 18th.
Remember this next week there is no school today on Monday, October 19th. It is a professional development day for educators.
Thank you for your support and commitment to a successful school year. We are grateful for the partnership between home and school.
Please continue stay connected with us through the CLP Parent Connect, social media, by phone, and by email.

MAP Assessment (Grades 3rd-6th)
Rockwall ISD students enrolled in grades 3rd-6th, will be assessed using the NWEA MAP Growth assessment in reading language arts and math beginning the week of September 21, 2020. MAP Growth helps teachers understand what students know today so goals can be set to improve growth throughout the year. Students cannot pass or fail this test. This is simply an assessment to chart a student’s growth.
A Family Guide to MAP Growth explains how the computer adaptive test works, what it measures and answers some frequently asked questions about the assessment. Please contact (campuses insert name of your campus MAP representative) to answer your questions about MAP Growth.

Red Ribbon Week: October 26th-30th
Yearbooks are Here!
Yearbooks have been sent home with in-person learners and will be sent home this week with remote learners.
Happy Birthday to our Learners
Birthdays are so important and so fun! We want our students to feel special and be celebrated on their birthday! As you know, we are living in an unusual time where being proactive with protecting the health and wellness of all students and staff is a high priority. Because of this, we have to refrain from bringing and distributing birthday treats this school year. We would love for you to make your child feel special in other ways. Perhaps your child could wear a special birthday button, crown, or shirt. We would love to know it is their birthday so we can celebrate them all day long! Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation.
Learner-Family Compact: Please click on the link and complete.
It's time for CLPs Family-Educator-Learner Compact. The compact is a yearly commitment made by families, educators, and students to do their part to help our learners perform to the highest of their abilities. This year the compact is a looks a little different, because it is 100% digital. Please take the time to review your specific compact and make the commitment to learning and growing our students.
If you have any questions about the compact please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Glasgow at allison.glasgow@rockwallisd.org.
We look forward to working with you this year!
Please Return your Library Books!
For remote learners, we will have a cart by the front office where you can drop off books from 7:30-3:30 p.m.
Mask and Face Covering Information
For Pre-K-Third Grade:
- Learners will wear a face shield at school. These face shields will be given to our learners and kept at school.
- If your child/children prefer to wear a mask/face covering that is great, too!
For Grades Fourth-Sixth:
- Learners will be required to wear face masks.
Please have your child/children pack an extra mask in their backpack, in case their mask or face covering is left at home. Our learners want to follow the policy and they sometimes get upset when they forget their mask and/or face covering. We have a few extras at school to give out, but packing an extra would help, too!
The Three W's
The 3 W's are:
- Watch your distance
- Wash your hands
- Wear a Mask
Lunch this Year
- We will not allow lunch visitors this year. This is a district policy to protect all of our learners.
- You can drop off a lunch box or lunch, if needed. Please wear a mask into the school and leave it on the table by the office with your child's name on a note.

Self Screening Information for Learners and Families
Screening the Health of Learners at Home Before Going to School
The following guidelines have been provided by the Texas Education Agency.
• It is important to remember that schools are required to exclude learners with certain illness from school for periods of time according to state rules. Please do not send your child to school if they have a fever (measured temperature of 100°F) or higher, diarrhea, or symptoms of a contagious illness.
• Parents must ensure they do not send a child to school if the child has COVID-19 symptoms or is lab-confirmed with COVID-19. Learners will receive remote instruction until the below conditions for re-entry are met.
• Learners will receive remote instruction if they had close contact with an individual who is lab-confirmed with COVID-19 until the 14-day incubation period has passed.
Learners or parents are required to report to their school nurse, BEFORE arriving at school, if:
• they had close contact with an individual who has tested COVID-19 positive, or
• if they themselves have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Please watch for COVID-19 symptoms. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
- Fever (measured temperature of 100°F or higher)
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Feeling feverish (chills, shaking, complains of having a fever)
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS LISTED ABOVE, PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME AND CONTACT YOUR SCHOOL NURSE FOR EXCLUSION AND READMISSION CRITERIA.
Individual Confirmed or Suspected with COVID-19
In the case of an individual who was diagnosed with COVID-19, such individual may return to school when all three of the following criteria are met:
- At least three days (72 hours) have passed since recovery (resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications).
- The individual has improvement in symptoms (example: cough, shortness of breath).
- At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
In the case of an individual who has symptoms that could be COVID-19 related and who has not been evaluated by a medical professional or tested for COVID-19, the individual is assumed to have COVID-19, and the individual may not return to campus until the individual has met the listed three criteria above.
