Big Sky Community Library News

On Tuesday, June 4th the Community Library hosted Gary Ferguson, author of The Carry Home.

His book was chosen for our One Book Big Sky Program this past winter. With over 30 people in attendance, he captivated the audience talking about his personal journey with grief and the healing process that followed. If you haven't read it, put it on your summer list!

And don't miss out on our next "One Book Big Sky" selection. Thanks to all who participated in the group read and attended the program.

For our third book title, we are reading Don't Say Anything to Anybody: A German World War II Girlhood by Brigette Z. Yearman with Anika Hanisch (Bozeman author) Fifteen copies are available on a first come basis with hopes several of you will participate.

Plans are to have the author, Anika Hanisch, come for a visit in late September. We hope you'll take part in this fun event.

There are several new audiobooks available for check-out for those funs summer road trips.

This year's theme for the 2019 Summer Reading Program is Universe of Stories!

The K-5 programs will be held Tuesdays at 4:00 from June 18th-July 23rd.

July 4th: Happy 4th of July!

July 9th: Magic Show with Walt Woolbaugh, our favorite magician!

July 16th: Space Art with Mrs. Edwards.

July 23rd: "It's all about the Planets"

We have 2 more activities for the Young Adults this summer as part of our summer reading program. Both activities are at the library, but at different times, so please review the information below.

Wednesday, July 10th: Join us at 6 p.m. in the library for a fun evening of games and food.

Wednesday, August 14th: Join us later at 8:30 p.m. in the library for an outdoor movie. We will be in the back of the school watching a movie and eating snacks. Bring chairs, blankets, bug spray, and your favorite movie snacks to share!

Friends of Mary Grundman recently purchased a shelf honoring Mary for her 80th birthday. What a wonderful way to celebrate her. Happy Birthday, Mary!

If you would like to honor a friend and support the library, shelf plaques can be purchased for $250.00 and all proceeds go to the Community Library. To find out more go to our website www.bigskylibrary.com and click on the tab "About" and scroll down to plaque donations.

Watch for the Friends of the Library all summer long at the local Farmer's Market. Every Wednesday the FOL will have used books for all ages available at the sale. It's a great way to recycle AND support the library.

If you have books you would like to donate, the Community Library is grateful for gifts of slightly used books, DVDs, and audio books. A tax receipt for all donations will be provided if requested. You may drop off donations at the Circulation Desk when the Library is open. Thank-you!

Community groups have received free tickets to the upcoming Caspar Babypants concert on July 6th at 11:00 a.m. This family-friendly concert is part of the Peak to Sky 2-day event.
