REPORT CARD ISSUE DATE - NOVEMBER 17
This year, the Aspen Family Portal will be the sole source of student report cards.
If you have never logged into the Aspen Family Portal, please search your personal email address for a message from: aspen-sysadmin@myfollett.com. This message will contain your initial login credentials.
If you have logged into the Aspen Family Portal previously, but cannot remember your password, please follow these steps for password reset. Once logged in, please follow these steps to access your child's report card.
In addition, a default message email will be sent to parents notifying them that report cards are now published with a link to instructions on how to access report cards via the Parent Portal.
Please note that you should access Aspen on a laptop or desktop computer as Aspen loses some functionality when viewed on a cell phone.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ASPEN WILL BE DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE FROM 6:00 P.M. ET FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH THROUGH 6 A.M. ET SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH. FAMILIES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE ASPEN FAMILY PORTAL DURING THAT TIMEFRAME. WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR ANY DISRUPTION CAUSED BY THIS ASPEN UPDATE, WHICH IS UNFORTUNATELY BEYOND OUR CONTROL. IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER ASSISTANCE WITH ASPEN, PLEASE SUBMIT A TECHNOLOGY HELPDESK TICKET, AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO ASSIST YOU.
FORMS IN ASPEN FAMILY PORTAL
Dear Parents and Guardians:
On October 24, we emailed many parents to let them know they have not yet completed their child/children’s PERMISSIONS in X2 Aspen. There are still many who have not done this. We would appreciate your completing the PERMISSIONS information in the X2 Aspen Family Portal today.
To access the PERMISSIONS section, log into the X2 Aspen Family Portal with your parent log in credentials, then click on the PERMISSIONS tab, and then click on the drop arrow for each permission. Click SAVE when done. After completing the PERMISSIONS, you should sign it electronically by typing your name in the box and entering the date.
Here are some step-by-step directions to help you get started. If you have any questions, please submit a Technology Helpdesk Ticket. Thank you for your cooperation.
HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE
Please see a message from our Superintendent below:
November 9, 2023
Dear DR Community,
We are very proud to announce that the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District has partnered with the Greater Attleboro Council for Children in their annual Christmas is for Kids (CIFK) program! Qualifying families in both Dighton and Rehoboth will be able to receive assistance, and our high school in DR will now be a distribution site for. those families. The Council for Children team has helped so many families in this area, and we are so excited to augment their efforts by both collecting donations and being a local distribution site. We look forward to ‘making DReams come true during the holidays.’ To learn more about the Council for Children, click this link. Please note that this isn’t just for Christmas; this is for the holiday and winter season.
If you are willing to make a donation, please click here.
This is an opportunity for any qualifying families in Dighton or Rehoboth to get holiday gifts and winter clothing. If you wish to receive assistance in the form of gifts and clothing, please be sure to submit the confidential application according to the guidelines below no later than November 27, but I am strongly encouraging you to fill out the application and get it submitted as soon as possible.
Click here to download the application. We will also have copies at each school as well as the Superintendent’s Office. Drop by or ask the school to send one home.
Completed applications must be returned with all of your required information with the application and story sheet in a SEALED envelope no later than November 27 in one of four ways:
- > dropped off at your child’s school. You must hand it directly to the secretary or administrator.
- > dropped off at the Superintendent’s Office. You must hand it directly to the secretary.
- > mailed to 4 Hodges Street, Attleboro, 02703.
- > dropped off to 4 Hodges Street, Attleboro, 02703.
Some additional information for you to be aware of:
- > When you fill out the “story” sheet (3rd page of the application), please do not include a list of specific items. We are planning on more children than last year's 900 children, so please just give us a couple of items and answer the questions on the front. We will prioritize warm clothes and do our best to match as closely as possible for toys, but please remember that we will substitute when we need to. We are assuming we may be doing more gift cards than usual for the teens, who we know love to shop for themselves anyway.
- > When you return the application, it is extremely important that you put all of your required information with the application and story sheet in a SEALED envelope. Remember the deadline is November 27.
The plan is to reach out to parents as soon as their application is approved to let you know that CIFK is working on your children's gifts. We will have a 1-day distribution at DR High School. You will be given a time. CIFK will send a follow-up letter in early December with the date and time for you to pick up the gifts.
Please let us know if you have questions via email at HolidayDreams@drregional.org.
Together, we are DR!

Superintendent
ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE
Beckwith's Annual Food Drive is running through November 27th. All food items will be donated to the Rehoboth Food Pantry. We are trying to beat last year's total of 2,087 Food Items.
All non-perishable items will be accepted. The homeroom with the most food items will win chocolate chip cookies from the Cafeteria. The grade with the most food items will win an extra recess. Each grade will have the opportunity to earn extra points by bringing in their assigned Thanksgiving food items.
The Rehoboth Food Pantry has told us that they especially need the following:
*Canned ravioli, beefaroni, spaghetti, and meatballs
*Boxes of mac and cheese and spaghetti
*Snack foods like peanut butter sandwich crackers, cheese cracker sandwiches, granola bars, jello, pudding, and fruit cups
PTSA BOOK FAIR
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Beckwith Middle School, December 1-8. Students will be able to preview the Book Fair on 12/1 during the school day. The Book Fair will be open to the public on 12/1 from 5:30-8:30pm during the Winter Craft Fair. Students will be able to shop during the school day on 12/4-12/6 and 12/8. To create an eWallet (cash-free way to shop the fair) visit the Book Fair homepage by clicking HERE.
PTSA WINTER CRAFT FAIR
On Friday, December 1st, Beckwith will be hosting the PTSA's Winter Craft Fair where there will be over thirty Student Shoppe's from Beckwith & Palmer River selling their own handmade items.
Students will also be able to buy some fun, inexpensive items for their friends and family that night at the Gingerbread Holiday Shoppe. Beckwith will not be hosting this shopping experience during the school day this year. Students will need to stop by the Cafeteria that night from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and will need to be accompanied by an adult.

SPIRIT WEEK T-SHIRTS
NEWS FROM THE NURSE
Scoliosis (postural) screenings will begin soon at Beckwith and will take place in gym class. If your child has seen their pediatrician this year and was already checked for curvature of their spine please send that documentation in as soon as possible. Students who have been checked by their MD will not be screened. If a parent decides to opt out of screening please email Mrs. Mondor, RN at cmondor@drregional.org stating their position of opting out.
Students are first screened by their gym teacher with the utmost privacy. Boys remove their shirt and girls will need to wear a sports bra, camisole or 2 piece bathing suit top for visual screening. The process takes about 30 seconds. Any students appearing with any suspected abnormality are then screened by Mrs. Mondor. If parents have any questions please call the school nurse Mrs. Mondor, RN at 508-252-5080 x4007
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
With the school year underway and the winter months fastly approaching, stress can be at an all time high for our students. Seasonal affective disorder is a condition in which an individual experiences a form of depression typically in the fall/winter months. This weekend, we will be turning back the clocks and our days will begin to appear shorter and darker. Check out these links to learn more about Seasonal affective disorder, the warning signs and ways to manage or treat our kids. Even if your child or you don’t experience this condition, some of the tips and tricks to help treat this disorder could be beneficial to maintain a positive attitude throughout these cold and dark months.

MYSCHOOLBUCKS INFORMATION
Account payments can be made through MySchoolBucks.com using a debit/credit card or electronic check. We will also be accepting cash and check payments (CHECK ONLY at Beckwith Middle) at all cafeteria registers. Please make checks payable to “Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District” and include your student’s full name in the memo line.
School meals are once again free (see above); however, all students must use the point of sale system to obtain a free lunch. Please encourage your child to remember their lunch pin number because it helps to move along the lunch lines. If a student forgets their pin, then the cafeteria workers need to look it up and this stalls the lunch line.
Students will need to pay for snacks not included with the free meal and this is the reason why a parent would want to put money on their child's account.

ABSENCE PROCEDURE AND ABSENCE NOTIFICATION SYSTEM FOR FAMILIES AND EMAIL ADDRESS
School attendance and punctuality are closely correlated with success at school. Time in class cannot be replicated by simply giving the absent student the work that was missed. Frequent absences can leave gaps in a student’s education that can affect them for years to come. For more information on Attendances and Absences, please review the Student Handbook.
Please call into the 24/7 Absence Line by the start of the school day (8:15 a.m.) to report your student's absence. Leave a message that states the name of your child and why they will be absent. To reach the absence line call 508-252-5080 and press 1. Alternatively, you may also email the Main Office at bmsattendance@drregional.org by 8:15 a.m. This email address can be used to report your student's absence as well as to report a tardy or dismissal.
Families of students who are marked as having an unexcused absence and who do not call the Absence Line or email the aforementioned email address by 8:15 a.m. will receive a phone call, text message, and email notification from the District to inform them of the student absence. The message will prompt families to call the Main Office to confirm the absence as soon as possible. The timing of the notification will be 9:15 a.m.
All absences are considered unexcused with the exception of the following: student medical appointment/illness/quarantine (with a doctor’s note), bereavement, family emergencies, observance of major religious holidays, weather so inclement as to endanger the health of the child, court appearance, out of school suspension, disability-related absences, and unique circumstances approved at the Principal’s discretion. In instances of chronic or irregular absence reportedly due to illness, the school administration may request a physician's statement certifying such absences to be justifiable.
Please arrange for doctor's notes to be sent to the Main Office via Fax Number at 508-252-5082 or via email at svincelette@drregional.org
