FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
TCS Earns an A on Federal/State Report Card!
Congratulations TCS!
Trussville City Schools is pleased to have received the grade of A on the first Federal and State combined Report Card released today. This grade completes our work on the ACT Aspire because this test will no longer be used on future report cards. Although there are perceived flaws in the overall grade calculation, for example, counting excused absences against the school for chronic absenteeism, Trussville City School System still maintained the grade of A.
Thank you TCS faculty, staff and administrators for doing a great job navigating the indicators on this first report card. Thank you to our students and parents for working hard on the high stakes standardized tests. Trussville is so proud to have some of the best and brightest employees and students in the state.

From Assistant Superintendent Beth Bruno
Our students are learning and achieving at higher levels because our teachers are professionals who are continuously growing, learning, and improving their craft. Throughout the district, teachers are becoming experts in various content areas, best practices, brain research, supporting struggling students, supporting gifted students, counseling students, and in many other areas.
This "A" is so exciting and affirming. We should celebrate and congratulate one another. But in a couple of days, this "A" will be a distant memory, and our staff will do what we always do. We'll teach and learn and support and care. Many, many thanks to you all for teaching and learning and supporting and caring.

Trussville Chamber Announces Food Drive to Benefit T.E.A.M.
For immediate release
TRUSSVILLE, AL – The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) is pleased to announce T.E.A.M.’s annual community-wide food drive to be held in February. The 9th annual “Love Your Neighbor” food drive will be held in conjunction with Valentine’s Day. Collection points will be manned at various locations and times during the week of February 14.
A kick-off will be held on Saturday, February 10, from 8 a.m. until noon at Chick-Fil-A on Chalkville Mountain Road in Trussville. Volunteers are expected to be on-hand at the kickoff to greet contributors. Chick-Fil-A coupons will be available to people who drop off food during the kick-off.
T.E.A.M. volunteer Melissa Williamson says, “For the past eight years, we’ve used the Valentine’s Day theme of love to remind people to ‘love their neighbor’ and to help those in need.” T.E.A.M., or Trussville Ecumenical Assistive Ministry, assists those in the immediate Trussville area who are in need of food, clothing, and other necessities during difficult financial times. Melissa also says, “Many people think of helping others during the holidays but they sometimes forget that some people need help all during the year. We hope this food drive will bring an awareness to donate these items all year long.”
Volunteers hope to capitalize on the success of previous years’ food drives. Area schools have been instrumental in the food drive. Several companies also sent monetary donations to T.E.A.M. This year’s goal is to collect enough non-perishable items to help T.E.A.M. provide food until the fall.
Specific items which are particularly needed include personal hygiene items, cooking oil, flour, corn meal, sugar, canned meat and fish, dried beans, cereal, breakfast food, peanut butter, jelly, saltines, and mac & cheese. T.E.A.M.’s other immediate needs include not only volunteers but also a larger building in which to house and distribute their donated items.
Area churches which participate as T.E.A.M. members include Clear Branch United Methodist Church, Deerfoot Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Trussville, First Methodist Church of Trussville, Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Faith Lutheran Church, and Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church, and Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church.
Drop-off locations include participating T.E.A.M. churches (listed above), the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce, ACTA Theater. Bryant Bank, BB&T Bank, DeDe's Book Rack, Courtyard by Marriott, Elmcroft Senior Living, EW Motion Therapy, First Community Mortgage, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Jefferson Title Company, Keller Williams Realty, Marco’s Pizza, YMCA Trussville, and T.E.A.M. Most of the participating churches will also conduct drives on Sunday, February 11, and Sunday, February 18. You may also leave donations at the T.E.A.M. location any time.
T.E.A.M. is located at 88 Cedar Lane in Trussville. Their hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon to 2 p.m. and Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. You may leave a message for T.E.A.M. at (205) 661-5039. Member churches share the expenses of T.E.A.M., supplemented with donations from individuals and community and civic organizations.
