5N Explores Science through Martin's Nature Trail
Dear Martin Families and Caregivers,
Thank you for your care and support these last hot days of school. Some families brought in water while others sent us emails asking us if we needed anything. Thank you all so much for your kindness! It truly means the world to us knowing that we're all in this together!
On our hottest day, yesterday, we stayed indoors for recess and most took advantage of the cooler morning air by taking a walk on our incredible nature trail or by enjoying some time in the shade.
Once temperatures started to creep up, we stayed indoors and shared air conditioned spaces or strategically positioned fans while watching movies tied to the curriculum, playing educational games, or reading books. As you can see from the pictures in this newsletter taken just yesterday, there were some nice moments shared by students. We are truly fortunate at Martin School for so many reasons.
Please remember that Thursday, September 14 is Picture Day! Also on September 14th is our K-2 Open House from 6:30-7:30pm. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Thank you, MSA! Thank you, Martin Families!
On behalf of the Martin Staff, thank you for the delicious breakfast prepared for staff yesterday! It helped the staff start the day on a positive note! Your kindness is so appreciated!
We have our new Walker Dismissal Procedure!
Thank you to all of our Walker Families for your patience as we revamped our walker procedure. Children are now exiting the building in a more organized way. Children who are independently walking or riding home are still able to do that with parent permission, and children with siblings are able to meet up with each other before exiting the building. Siblings have appreciated their reunion at the end of the day, and for the most part, this has allowed families to leave all together in a quicker fashion.
This past Tuesday and Wednesday, walker students started dismissal at 2:50pm to help our team practice our new procedure. Since yesterday (and for the remainder of the year), walker dismissal will begin at the usual time (around 3:05pm).
****
To review the procedure, it is as follows:
Students with the last names, A-L go out the gym door near the "rock"/Nature Trail area. Students with last names M-Z go out the usual walker door.
Kindergarten families pick up their Kindergarten children from teachers first from the usual walker door (the door labeled M-Z). If a Kindergarten child has a sibling who goes to Martin, adults should please wait at the appropriate door (A-L or M-Z) after connecting with their Kindergartner.
Students in grades 1-5 will exit with their siblings. Groups of children are released at one time.
Bike riders or students who have permission to walk home without an adult accompanying them, exit from the doors near the Peace Garden.

Parties, Play Dates, and the MSA's Martin School Directory
If you've ever organized a play date or birthday party, you know how important email addresses and cell phone numbers are. To help Martin families connect with other Martin families, our MSA puts together a school directory each year. Information collected for the directory includes student/parent names, emails, phone numbers, etc. You can choose to submit as much or as little information as you would like. Participation in the directory is optional, but it is a wonderful tool for families to have. Additionally, the directory is password protected.
Please click here for the link to submit your information today! Once the information has been collected, the MSA will send out the finished product for you to start using immediately!
Due Friday, September 15.

Bus passes were passed out to classroom teachers this week. Please loop bus passes to your child's backpack.
