President's Message
I hope everyone has enjoyed this relatively mild winter in the DMV area. I know the beardies have enjoyed some of the spring-like days we’ve had in the mountains. The windier, the better for them as it brings all the good smells, I guess.
We’re gearing up for our 2023 event calendar and would love your ideas for events or offers to host any of the ideas noted in the board meeting minutes. We’ve had strong encouragement to increase to two vineyard events this year. The beardies were extremely popular at 8Chains in Leesburg last fall and I think they would definitely welcome us back.
I know I’ve been in a bit of a hibernation mode in January and February 2023, after a very busy 2022. As a reminder, NCBCC hosted the 2022 BCCA National Specialty in Virginia Beach. It was a lot of work, but I’m pleased to say that the event did make a profit and NCBCC will net a bit over $8000 in revenue from our efforts hosting the event. We have already started putting that money to good use with a donation to Beardie Rescue, and will continue to look for good causes we can support. Please let us know if there are other worthy causes we should consider, particularly with local ties.
I hope we’ll see everyone at our specialty in April. Don’t show, but want to come - please join us! It’s free to watch and we can always use help/volunteers. The premium will be up soon on www.infodog.com, so keep an eye out.
As a reminder, membership renewals were due at the beginning of the new year. However, the deadline is the end of March, 3/31/2023. So, there’s still time to get your renewal in, either by going online or mailing in the form.

Meeting was called to order at 7:20 PM
Old Business:
-2022 BCCA National final reports have been submitted, pending final close out with the BCCA
New Business:
2023 April Specialty 4/21-23 weekend:
-3 days of specialties Friday is our independent specialty, Sat/Sun are designated specialties as part of the Baltimore County shows. 3 days sweeps& 3 regular sets of classes - breeder judges. Altered offered on Friday, Veterans all 3 days
-Trophies & ribbons ordered, placement awards offered Friday only. Top awards offered all 3 days
-Boxed lunches and grooming planned as usual
-Goodie bags - Brenda Wantland offered to pull together
Looking for help - Raffle volunteers - Merilyn & Linda offered to help organize. More help is needed to organize donations into raffles, sell tickets and pull winners on Friday, 4/21
2023 Agility Trial 10/27-29:
Will be a one ring trial at the Periland, MD site. Prices went up considerable to rent the soccer facility in Westminster, MD. Judge pending (lots of retirements lately)
