School Closure Update 06.14.20
Good Morning!
As I watched Stanwood High School Graduation Ceremony on Friday evening, it made me think of how resilient our students are. As a community, we have been able to successfully support students at all grade levels to continue their journey through education. Although it looked very different, we want to thank parents for your support. Together, we did it!
Take a look at our Virtual Hallway (linked below) to see what Port Susan students have been up to!

Yearbooks
They have arrived & look great! Our office still has some yearbooks available for purchase. Contact Port Susan at 360.629.1360 to hold one and then bring $20 cash or check between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. this next week. If you are not able to come and pick up your yearbook, we will be mailing all purchased yearbooks at the end of the month to your home address.
We are asking all students to take a look through their backpacks for any library books they may have checked out. We currently have over 450 books out there, so it will be helpful to get the majority of these returned this next week. We appreciate your help with this.
Chromebooks
The district has decided that students who are returning to the SCSD in the fall may keep their chromebooks to access available educational resources during the summer. Students not returning to our school and/or will not need these over the summer for an educational purpose, please return them to Port Susan any day this week between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Hotspots
If you have a hotspot checked out, we will need those returned this next week. I would like to thank sno-isle library for providing the Verizon service and our district for T-mobile throughout our distance learning time.
PE Clothes/Lost and Found/Other Items
We will have staff available all week for drive up this week. Please take a look at the pictures below at the items that will be set outside. Again, the hours for pick up will be 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Drive Thru Celebration
Hello 8th grade families!
We would like to invite you to join us at Port Susan Middle School to celebrate our 8th grade students on Wednesday, June 17th anytime between 4pm-7pm for a drive through celebration!
8th grade parents, you will drive through and stay to the right & remain in your car to pick up items as we honor your student.
First station (right at the Y) and let the staff/volunteer know their first and last name. That person radios the name, so the certificate station & yearbook station can find the right certificate.
Second station (corner of building) you will get their yard sign (Thanks PTO!)
Third station (center of building) pick up their 2019-2020 yearbook
Fourth station (by flagpole) get their promotion certificate
Fifth, and final station, you will drive around the other parking lot which we’ll have the route clearly marked. A photo booth will be set up for your student. Students only get out for a quick picture - then back in the car to exit.
Staff will line the sidewalk (1/4 mile stretch for social distancing) as you exit with signs and cheer them on.
All we ask is that you remain in your car with windows rolled up until you’ve reached a station.
We hope your family can join us to help congratulate the class of 2024!
Thank you, Kitchen Staff!!
Summer Feeding Program
From July 1- August 30 the District will be providing meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
On Tuesday, 3 days of meals will be provided. On Thursdays, 4 days of meals will be provided.
“Due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT (P-EBT). P-EBT benefits help families in Washington buy food when school is closed.”
For more information about P-EBT please visit the Stanwood Camano School District website.
Reopening Schools
There are three highlighted models on page 30 of the guidelines. They are 1) Split or rotating schedules with continuous remote learning; 2) Phased-in opening with continuous remote learning; 3) Continuous Learning 2.0 (all distance learning) The district will be exploring these three models and will survey families within the next week to receive input.
Thank You all!!
