8th Grade Strings Concert: Oct 26th

The 8th grade Strings concert is this Wednesday at 7:00 in the BV High Auditorium. Students need to arrive in the Auditorium at 5:50 for a 6:00 dress rehearsal. Cellists/bassists need to bring their instrument from home. Students can wear all black or a Halloween costume that is school-appropriate and allows them to comfortably play their instrument.

Channeling Grimm Performances Oct 27 & 28

Blue Valley Middle School presents Channeling Grimm

Guaranteed entertainment and laughs are promised to the audience of this year’s fall production at Blue Valley Middle School. Channeling Grimm is a wacky assortment of fairy-tale programming presented with a modern twist that attempts to showcase many of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales in one production. Classic tales such as Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood and Rumpelstiltskin are highlighted in this boisterous production that is sure to make you laugh out loud. This show-within-a-show is family friendly and will be a favorite for all.

Tickets are $6.00 and can be purchased in advance or the night of the show, but will go fast as is typically the case for all of the school’s productions. The curtain goes up both nights at 7pm and showcases the talents and dedication of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in the cast and crew.

Sources of Strength is teaming up with PROJECT 10❤️20! We are collecting socks, gloves, and t shirts for Men and Women!

Project 10❤️20 is Johnson County’s only shelter for adults who are experiencing homelessness. We provide transportation to and from the shelter, a hot evening meal, and a grab-and-go breakfast in the morning. We’re a safe place to sleep and to receive care, compassion, and support.

We believe in loving our neighbors. That means helping human beings to live with dignity. No matter their situation, people deserve to have the most basic needs of shelter and food met.

We’re located at 9400 Pflumm, Lenexa, KS 66215, on the south wing of Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church. Hours are from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. from December 1st through March 31st.

Johnson County Christmas Bureau

Johnson County Christmas Bureau will host their 2022 Holiday Shop from December 2 through December 10. The holiday shop is similar to a department store. Each of the guests has the dignity of selecting their own merchandise and is personally escorted through the shop by a volunteer. Apply online:
