Protecting Student Privacy
It's awesome that some of you are using social media to "open the doors" of your classrooms. Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Facebook Live are amazing tools for connecting what you do in your class to the people surrounding your students. Parents love it, and it's great for our community to see what's going on in our classrooms. There are a few students at SHS that we do not have permission to post on social media per their guardians. If you have these students in class or in your organizations, please do not post their image on any social medias. There only a few, so don't be discouraged, just aware.

Open Your Lecture up to Your Audience
Presenter View in Google Slides changed pretty drastically late last Spring. If you haven't yet tried these tools, give them a whirl.

e-Portfolios
Because students need a record of achievement and academic development, digital portfolios are increasingly necessary. We cannot allow their activity on social media to be the sole source of the digital footprint presented to colleges and future employers. An e-portfolio should be:
- easily shareable
- attractive and presentable
- unaffiliated with school accounts/email addresses
Teachers and other staff members need to consider curating an e-Portfolio, also. For more information and storage solutions, click here.

Workflow the day of:
For those of us participating in the conference, we will network using three different collaborative tools: Twitter, TodaysMeet, and Padlet. I have the links to all three sites below, descriptions of how to use them, and the different purposes they will serve. Let me know if you have questions or trouble with any of them.
Use Twitter during the conference! Be sure and add our hashtag: #432shs to all of your Tweets so we don't miss them. You can also include the handle for your presenter. Tweet updates, session materials, graphics, or whatever you want. I plan to tweet my sessions, highlights of the day, and any presenter materials. This will be a public place to reference what you are learning, network, and connect with our presenters.
TodaysMeet
Join the TodaysMeet by using your Google Login. Instructions will be posted at the top of the conversation. We can comment to one another, draw attention to things, or collaborate if we're in the same sessions. I will most likely come here to post the session I'm in and see who's in there with me. We can then chat throughout our session. The Todays Meet will not be public, but instead a more informal place to share ideas and comments.
Padlet
Contribute to our Padlet! Post your personal notes from the conference, individual presenter's notes, links to websites, videos - you name it. Padlet allows posting of whatever you want. I will most likely take notes on a Google Doc, change the privacy so that others can view it, and post it on the Padlet. This is the place to curate what we all gather from the day to refer to later when we have a chance to reflect.
Managing Devices:
You will almost definitely want to use more than one device during the conference! Pick the best device for all of your needs. I will most likely Tweet from my phone, watch the conference on my iPad, and take notes & collaborate with you on my laptop through the TodaysMeet and our Padlet.. That being said, you can do everything from one device if you manage your tabs and pages.
