[Laurel MD, April 24, 2024] — The Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation is pleased to announce the outstanding success of its esteemed institutions, Chesapeake Science Point Charter School (CSP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, and Chesapeake Math and IT Public Charter Schools in Laurel and Upper Marlboro, MD. These schools have earned high rankings nationally and in the metro area, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best High Schools. Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter High School in Hanover, Maryland, ranks among the nation’s top five percent of high schools nationally at #595, #11 in Maryland High Schools, #4 in Baltimore, MD Metro Area High Schools, #107 in Charter High Schools, and #1 in Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS).
Chesapeake Math and Information Technology (CMIT) Public Charter High School in Laurel, Maryland, ranks among the nation’s top fifteen percent of high schools nationally at #2,564, #50 in Maryland High Schools, #62 in Washington DC Metro Area High Schools, #363 in Charter High Schools, and #5 in Prince George’s County Public Schools.
Chesapeake Math and Information Technology (CMIT) South Public Charter High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, ranks #6,595 nationally, #120 in Maryland High Schools, #62 in Washington DC Metro Area High Schools, and #363 in Charter High Schools. It is also the #11 Prince George’s County Public Schools High School.

Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation was established in 2003. In 2005 the first of seven STEM focused schools was established. Chesapeake Science Point MH Charter School in Anne Arundel County, and the Chesapeake Math & IT Academy Public Charter Schools, Prince George's County, remain among Best Schools (US News). The newest and 7th school, Chesapeake Science Point Elementary Public Charter School, is slated to open in 2023.
