Meet Mrs. Kratzke!
Hilary Kratzke loves teaching kindergarten! She has been working at Minnewauken for a couple years. She lives with her family and has a cat. With her students she loves to play games and do art with the kids. Hilary is excited to work with her kindergarteners and their families this year.
Meet Mrs. Adam!
Mrs. Shelby Adam earned her degree in music education from Minot State University. She has been teaching music to students at Minnewaukan Public School since the start of her career in 2018 and really feels she has found her place here with the kids. Singing, dancing, instrument playing, critical thinking, music history, and music literacy are some of the many concepts that make up Mrs. Adam’s music-filled days with the students in grades PreK-6. She is also teaching reading to students in grades 2-6. The small town of Maddock is home to her family, which includes her husband, her sons Eli and Ty, two cats, and a dog. In her free time, Mrs. Adam enjoys reading, yoga, art, camping, and playing music with her husband and sister.

All of our paraprofessionals have been receiving professional learning in love and logic. Love and logic can also be a great parenting strategy.
"Love and Logic" is an approach to parenting that emphasizes setting firm limits in a loving way while allowing children to make choices and experience the consequences of those choices. Here are some hints for using Love and Logic principles in your parenting:
Offer Choices:
- Provide your child with choices whenever possible. This helps them feel a sense of control and responsibility.
- Make sure the choices are acceptable to you and allow your child to experience the consequences of their decisions.
Set Limits with Empathy:
- Communicate rules and limits with empathy and understanding.
- Instead of saying "You have to," try phrases like "I love you too much to argue" or "I know you can handle this responsibility."
Use Natural Consequences:
- Allow your child to experience the natural consequences of their actions whenever it's safe to do so.
- This helps them learn responsibility and problem-solving skills.
Provide Empowering Statements:
- Encourage your child with statements that promote self-responsibility. For example, "I know you can handle this," or "What do you think would be a good solution?"
Stay Calm and Consistent:
- Maintain a calm and composed demeanor, even in challenging situations.
- Be consistent with consequences and follow through on what you say.
