WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
Meet the new School Nurse!
My mission as the school nurse is to foster the growth, development, and educational achievement of each individual student by providing expertise in health and promoting leadership and advocacy. To monitor health status, identify and address any unmet needs of student, families, and staff members. To create partnerships that ensure quality services that are effective, culturally appropriate, and responsive to the diverse, changing needs of the students and the community.
I look forward to meeting each of you and getting to know the students over the next couple of months before summer break! Until then, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Donation Needs:
The office has a stock of items for times when students have accidents and need a change of clothes. We are currently in need of girls leggings or boys athletic/tie pants for sizes 6,7,8. We appreciate all donations! ** As allergies kick up, we are also in need of boxes of tissues.
Please reach out to me with any questions or additional support needs at ashley.phelps@myeagles.org or at 517-769-8557.
Helping your student with BIG emotions
As adults we all get burnt out sometimes, and it can be the same way for kids. Although they don't know what these strange feelings mean and how to calm the big feelings. Here are a few tips to help students as they are feeling overwhelmed or just full of worries this time of year.
- Have a set bedtime to be sure they are getting the right amount of sleep.
- Have a morning routine - arriving on time and being prepared for the day.
- Practice self-care with your student. For a child this may also look like painting, a dance party or a nice walk to take a minute and help them unwind.
- Remind them to breathe, routinely practice how to take big breaths when things feel overwhelming.
- Read a story to help them normalize their feeling such as "Ruby Find a Worry", "The Very Hungry Worry Monster" or "A Little Calm Spot".
- Encourage them to ask for help when they do not know how to calm their worries.
