Cross Country
Buses will leave from school at 10.45am. Children will be able to walk the course before the races begin. The first race will begin at 11.40am (5 year old boys) with each race following 10 minutes apart.
Food will be available: Choc bars, drinks, chips $2, sausage in bread $2, Meat pattie sandwich $4, Steak sandwich $5.
Central Taranaki Cross Country is next Wednesday 11th Sept. at the Stratford Racecourse. Children who finish in the top 10 in their age races (9+)at Rawhitiroa will be invited to compete.
The Taranaki Cross Country Champs is on Wednesday 25th Sept at the Hawera Showgrounds. Those who do well at Central will be invited to compete at this event.
Notes will be sent home to those eligible to compete in either of the above events.
School Speeches
Corban was placed 1st with his speech on 'Ministocks', Kemp was 2nd with his topic, 'Why birds shouldn't be pets' and Amelia was placed 3rd with her speech on 'Recycling'.
Corban, Haylee and Emma (who didn't present on the day) will compete against students from Eltham and Rawhitiroa Schools to represent our area in the Lions Speechmaker competition for Year 7 & 8 students in Hawera in November.
Rich Weir Cup / McLeod Shield Rugby
Apologies for the wrong date in last week's newsletter for the McLeod Shield game! This will be played at Rahotu on Monday 16th Sept. Notes have been sent home to those involved.
Congratulations...
- A number of students received trophies at the recent Eltham Soccer / Football Club Prizegiving: Jacob R - Player of the Year; Quaid - Most Improved Player; Ava - Most Helpful Team member; Cooper B & Jessica A (they were unsure what theirs were for!)
- Celia - awarded Merit for her Preliminary Level piano exam.
Well done!
$300 given to 'Cycle of Hope' riders.

PTA Update
- Meeting tomorrow, Thursday 5th Sept. 7pm in the staffroom. All welcome to attend as we discuss plans for Pet Day set up.
- Reminder to get Pet Day registrations in. Forms at the office. Kylie Perrett is in today to show children what judges will be looking for in their calves. 2.30pm - parents are welcome to come along.
- Thank you to everyone who supported the Cookie Dough fundraiser. You will be notified when orders will be available for pickup (possibly around 16th Sept). We have limited freezer space at the moment so we would appreciate orders being picked up the day they are ready.
