Randolph Elementary News from Principal Ms. Fay
Randolph Grade School Families-
The start of this school year has brought a renewed excitement as we return to in-person learning. Students and staff are working hard to develop routines, celebrate successes and strive to achieve at high levels.
During the 20-21 school year, our elementary school utilized Rocket Time after school to provide additional instruction to those in need using research based interventions. This year, we have moved interventions back into the school day. In addition to academic screening during the 21-22 school year, teachers in grades K-6 will be using a universal behavioral health screening tool to reinforce best practices while providing identified students with social skill building and other support to help them engage positively in learning. In backpack mail on Monday, October 4th, you received more information about this screener. Please stop by Miss Maddie, our school counselor, during conferences on October 7th if you have specific questions about the screener.
We look forward to seeing most of you at the October 7th conferences. If your child was not scheduled for a conference on October 7th and you would like a conference, please reach out to your child's teacher. Otherwise, please reserve November 11th between 4:15-8:00 p.m. for a conference in person, virtual or by phone for your student or students.
In Partnership,
Christy Fay
Elementary Principal

Middle/High School News from Principal Mr. Kohn
Dear Rocket Families,
We are off to a great start and I want to thank you for your support in your child’s education!
Students have been working hard and settling into the new year. We’ve even had some time to celebrate as well.
We recently held our Homecoming Week. Students enjoyed the dress-up days, skits, volleyball, powderpuff, tug ‘o war, lightning, and capped off the week with our parade, football game, and homecoming dance. It was a great week for our students!! These events do not just happen. Thank you to all of the advisors who helped out with organizing, officiating, supervising, etc. Our students are very fortunate to have such a great staff here at Randolph! I’d also like to extend a thank you to our community workers and any parent volunteers who assisted with making the parade a success!!
Many of our students have also had the opportunity to take some field trips already this year. The Dairy Expo and the Wisconsin Education Fair and Campus Tours are just a couple of the early trips that were experienced.
We have also had several guests visiting with our students from Madison College, to the Military, to the Hope House, just to name a few.
It has been great to see our students interacting again and experiencing all of the opportunities that the Randolph School District has to offer.
Sincerely,
Andy Kohn
Meet Mrs. Beaver-Fifth grade Elementary teacher
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself for those who may not know me. My name is Stephanie Beaver, and I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade this year!
In September of 2020, I was hired to be the in-house substitute for the district. During that time, I had the opportunity to get to know many students throughout all of the grade levels. I have absolutely loved being part of the Randolph School District! Though I am new
to teaching in Randolph, I previously taught for eight years in 4K, Kindergarten, third, fourth, and fifth grade in Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. I live in Fall River with my husband Ben and our three children--Michael, Ella, and Jake.
I’m looking forward to another great school year and am so happy to be a part of Rocket Nation!

Mrs. Vredeveld's second graders share what it would be like to be a squirrel
“If I was a squirrel I would eat nuts and I would run a lot and climb too. And hide from dogs and foxes. I would hide nuts when it is winter and I would dig 7 holes first. And I would have my own wife. “
By Jonah Rivera
“If I was a squirrel I would eat nuts, berries, eggs and mushrooms. I would look like a white squirrel. I would have a bushy tail and big front teeth and I use my tail as a sail. Oh, I forgot to tell you the best part. I have very sharp claws. The end.”
By Aubrey Breitlow
“If I was a squirrel, I would be a white squirrel. I would go away from my house and eat a lot of nuts and at night time I will wrap my tail around me. And squeak, squeak, squeak all the way to my own home.”
By Payton Knight
“If I was a squirrel, I would go and get food to eat in the winter. I would get leaves for my home. My mom is blind. I wandered off into the wild. My mom has a great sense of smell. And she found out that I was missing so she wandered off to find me. And I found my way back home. And we lived happily ever after. The end.”

Reminders from the Kitchen
Share Fridge
You have all been doing a wonderful job putting your leftovers in the share fridge- thank you for paying it forward! Remember, any student is allowed to take from the share fridge throughout the day (located by the tray return window), but you can only put school breakfast and lunch items in the fridge.
National School Lunch Week Oct. 11-15th
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom.
During this annual weeklong celebration, SNA members and students around the country will celebrate in their cafeterias, schools and districts with special menus, events, student activities and more.
The 2021 NSLW theme WILD About School Lunch invites creative and fun new menu items while appealing to the universal popularity of animals and nature to appeal to students in all grade levels.
