Dear Thacher Families:
We've had a few calls into the office regarding safety concerns in our parking lot around arrival and dismissal. Please avoid parking on the right side of James St. where families drive in to drop off. Parking there reduces the amount of space to drive through and also makes entering the parking lot more difficult. Additionally, please only cross the street at crosswalks. It's been reported that some people are walking out into the middle of the street which is dangerous as cars are not expecting people to step out into the street there. Please see the image below which indicates where people should not park (indicated in red).
Lastly, please see these important newsletters for information about our Title I programming:

From the Art Room
Dear Parents, Guardians & Caregivers,
Welcome to the wonderful world of art education at Thacher School! I am thrilled to have your child as part of our kindergarten through fourth-grade art program ~ it’s going to be a very creative and exciting year in ART!
Art class is not just about drawing and painting; it plays a vital role in your child's development. Here's how:
Social Growth: Art encourages collaboration and communication. Your child will learn to work with others, share ideas, and appreciate different perspectives.
Emotional Growth: Art is a safe space for self-expression. It helps children explore and manage their emotions, fostering confidence and resilience.
Creative Development: Art sparks creativity, nurturing your child's ability to think outside the box and find innovative solutions to problems, while becoming self-directed learners.
Academic Reinforcement: Art is more than colors and shapes; it reinforces core subjects like math, science, and language arts by applying them in a creative context.
Cultural Understanding: Through our projects, we explore diverse cultures and traditions, teaching tolerance and acceptance, instilling a respect for differences, and the ability to respond with empathy and kindness.
Art is a bridge to holistic education, enriching your child's journey in more ways than one. I look forward to nurturing their creativity and fostering their growth while inspiring them to become lifelong creative learners!
