CTE Spotlight - Veterinary Medicine
Students in Mrs. Snapp's Vet Medicine classes study topics relating to large and small animal veterinary practices. They also study skills and terminology that are required of a veterinary assistant and students with plans of attending vet school. Students also have the opportunity to earn their Vet Tech certification.
Student Fundraiser for Multiple Hereditary Exostoses - Oct. 15
Caleb Gilbert is hosting a fund raiser for MHE (Multiple Hereditary Exostoses), which is a rare bone disorder. He is a junior at LCHS. His fundraiser is a city wide scavenger hunt and all funds raised go directly to The MHE Research Foundation. The Buddy Walk - Oct. 15
The Buddy Walk is an annual event where we gather as a Lubbock community and celebrate our friends with Down syndrome. You can register a team or donate to a team. All funds raised stay here in the Lubbock community.

LCHS Teacher Named Mrs. Baird's Teacher on the Rise
Congratulations to LCHS teacher, A.J. Heston, for being the recipient of this month's Mrs. Baird's Teacher on the Rise. Mr. Heston teaches Pre Calculus, and Algebra II OnRamps. He was nominated by student, Emma Robins, and was selected from a pool of more than 400 area educators! The LCHS Orchestra is hosting auditions for aspiring artists to showcase between movements in their Oct. 29 performance, Night at the Grammy's. They are looking for students who have the following talents:
Future Rap Artist
Future Country Artist
Future Pop-Artist
Future Gospel/CCM Artist
Future Classical Artist

US Air Force Flight Academy Scholarship Opportunity
The US Air Force has announced a summer opportunity for students interested in aviation. The AIM HIGH Flight Academy Scholarship is a 3-week all-expense paid program that includes 15 flight hours of training at an Air Force partnered university. Participating students will live, dine, and learn to fly at a university campus. Applications are open through November 30, 2022. This opportunity is available to students between the ages of 16-18 in any career cluster. Click the flyer for more information!
LCHS Tennis Playoff Bound
Congratulations to the LCHS Tennis team, as well as Coaches Rosales and Axton, for securing a spot in the playoffs! This is the first playoff appearance for team tennis since the 2015-2016 school year.
How to Report a Student Absence
What if the absence is COVID related?
After submitting an absence in Skyward and indicating that it is Covid related in the comments box, you will receive an email with a Google Form link. Parents must fill out the Google Form and supply evidence of the Covid related absence to ensure that the absence will not count against semester exam exemptions.
