New faces in new places

We want to wish Ann Bitter well in her transition from 5th grade at Kohler Elementary School to 6th grade ELA teacher at Kohler Middle School. We will be welcoming some new staff to Kohler Elementary.

Ms. Sarah DeGroff is our new school librarian.
Mrs. Bruggink will be moving from a 4th grade teacher to a 5th grade teacher this year.
Ms. Rachel Krome is our new 4th grade teacher.
Ms. Elizabeth McCormick is our new school speech/language therapist.

We also welcome a total of 64 new students to Kohler this year! WELCOME to everyone!

Welcome back and who's my child's teacher?

We have done our best to honor any requests and set students up for success. Requests for teachers are taken in writing annually from May 1st-May 15th for the upcoming school year. Families do receive 2 requests in their elementary student's educational career based on an educationally based need. It is not possible to honor all requests. Final placement decision is based upon a variety of factors including but not limited to: academic and social considerations, total class size, male/female ratio, and heterogeneous grouping. We have a fabulous community of educators, learners and families. We look forward to great year!

2022-23 Thoughts

I am eager to start the school year following a terrific year here at Kohler. Thank you to the families, staff and school board for their support.

I have seen many teachers in classrooms setting up and getting ready and kids/families excited to start. It is one of my favorite things to welcome staff, families and students back.

I will be again supervising playground in the morning and safety patrol after school. I beginning and ending my day that way.

My newsletter will come out monthly. Please know I will send the newsletter via Skylert and a mailing list via smore for the first newsletter. So you may get a double messages--starting in September I send it directly from my smore mailing list based on skyward. Please reach out if you are not receiving the the monthly newsletter and with any suggestions.

IMPORTANT INFO NOT TO BE MISSED

DAILY SCHEDULE
7:40 am supervision begins on the playground.

7:50 am Doors open and students enter Kohler Public Schools.

Students may enter through supervised doors on the playground-doors # 6 and #9 . Alternatively they can enter through the main office door #2.
Bus will arrive under the canopy at the main office door #2.

8:00 All entrances are closed and students must enter through the main office door #2.

Attendance taken with students within their classroom. Students feet should be inside the classroom doors at 8 so they are not tardy.

3pm is dismissal

3rd-5th graders: students may exit either door #2 by the main office OR door #8 on the playground. Designated pick-up people and students should have a confirmed location to meet before the first day of school.
4k-2nd graders and Kohler Kare: students will exit door #8 with a wheel-chair accessible ramp on the playground. 4k/5k students will wait under the canopy with staff and use their traditional thumbs up signal to transition them to the designated pick up person.

For security purposes door access for entry/exit will increase some congestion. Our new parking lot should ease some of this congestion based on traffic flow and better pedestrian walkways. Please be patient and use our Kohler Kindness with the renovation and new routines at the beginning of the year.

Bus

We are will be again using Johnson Bus services. Thanks to all families that filled out the bussing form associated with registration. Any changes or questions on bussing please contact 920-893-5941 (Becky Hellmer).

Note Important Calendar Change for September

The school calendar indicates that students will not have school on Friday, September 30 due to a Professional Development day for staff. To provide our students the full Homecoming experience with a full week of activities and school spirit, we will be changing this Professional Development Day to Friday, September 23.

There will be no school on Friday, September 23 for students.
School WILL be in session on Friday, September 30 for a complete celebration of Homecoming. Please update calendars accordingly.
