STREAMLINING EDUCATOR EVALUATION
DISTRICT PLANNING
DISTRICT STRATEGY/SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANS
Educators must align SMART Goals to our LPS Vision, District Strategy and School Improvement Plans (SIPs).
Please review our LPS District Strategy and your respective SIPs before developing your SMART Goals.
EDUCATOR EVALUATION UPDATES
We appreciate your ongoing feedback as we seek to build an optimal platform for educator evaluation. As a result of your feedback, we have further streamlined our educator evaluation process. Our Joint Evaluation Team convened last June - please see our updates below (best to view our updates in TeachPoint):
- SISP SMART Goals/Evidence Collection - form reflects what educators see (with full standards on display)
- Walkthroughs - form further streamlined to directly align with our LPS Focused Look-Fors
- Evaluator Record of Evidence - new form used to capture event(s) beyond your typical classroom walkthrough
SEEKING TEACHERS TO PILOT NEW TEACHER RUBRIC
This new rubric will be fully implemented for the 2024-2025 school year. This rubric speaks more directly to the work we are doing at LPS in alignment with culturally responsive teaching and learning. Interested teachers should notify their evaluator(s) and be sure to select the SMART Goals & Evidence Collection (New Rubric Pilot) - Teachers - 2023-2024 in TeachPoint. Additional DESE guidance can be found here - feel free to reach out with any questions.
SAMPLE SMART GOALS
Educators may choose one of the following SMART Goals for the 2023-2024 school year, keep/tweak an existing goal, or create a new one. Some educators choose to integrate some of the language below to customize their own SMART goal(s). We recommend you review the Definition of SMART Goals first.
LPS FEEDBACK SURVEYS
All grade 3-12 general education teachers will administer the LPS Student Survey, and all K-2 general education teachers will lead a class conversation using the LPS Student Discussion Tool OR may choose to opt for a different tool (if choosing this route, will need to share tool with evaluator) by the first Friday in April each year. For questions about how this pertains to the professional conversation with your evaluator, please see the collective bargaining agreement addendum. These surveys are also accessible within TeachPoint (resource tab in the top right corner).
LPS Look-Fors
We have further refined our Focused LPS Look-Fors as we look to further support educator reflection and growth. These are in direct alignment with our LPS Vision, District Strategy, and SIPs. As mentioned above, these are now directly aligned to our classroom walkthrough form as well.
- Facilitates academic conversations that center student voice and leadership
- Provides multiple options for students to engage in learning and demonstrate their progress (e.g. use of sign language to demonstrate understanding)
- Provides opportunities for students to share their thinking, including those who are not volunteering to participate (e.g. name generator, fair sticks, thumbs up/down, anonymous surveys, etc...)
- Creates an environment that is safe and respectful of all cultures and backgrounds (e.g. pronoun use, variety of perspectives in content, visuals)
Our Lynnfield Curriculum Council continues to refine our LPS Look-Fors as we look to further support educator growth. Our LPS Look-Fors are still a work in progress and we welcome your input as we strive to reach a common understanding of where we want to be as one professional learning community.
