Welcome to our new Rachel Carson students and families! All current parents and guardians of CPMS students are automatically members of the PTC.

Our events, programs, school support, and enthusiasm make up this vibrant volunteer community and are indeed, POWERED BY YOU.

1. We need your feedback! Let your voice be heard! Please take a moment over the next couple of weeks to connect with your student to get their perspective on how things are going this year with the new schedule, lunchtime, homework, and connections with their teachers and peers. Then complete this 10 question anonymous survey to provide us with feedback regarding various topics including the new CMPS/RC schedule, homework, and school climate and culture. This survey will be open over the entire Winter Break.

2. Mark your calendars for the next PTC Meeting dates: January 18th at 6:30pm via Zoom, February 15th at 6:30pm (Hybrid or Zoom - TBD), March 15th at 6:30pm, March 15th at 6:30pm. Read on for tentative topics

Thanks to all the families who signed up to donate cookies. There were hundreds of delicious cookies for the staff to choose from to make their own customized cookie boxes. Also, a shout out to Cedar Mill Bible Church for donating several carafes of coffee to accompany the goodies!

Also, one lucky staffer won a surprise basket filled with the makings of a cozy winter movie night filled with a blanket, a couple of flavors of popcorn, Izze sparkling water, a $10 gift card/code from Amazon to rent a movie or two, and some hot cocoa.

Your efforts in sending off the staff with some good vibes and deliciousness before the Winter Break is appreciated!

Many thanks to Ms. Stone, the students in Band, and all those who came to support the concerts last week! It was great to get together - in person - and hear the upbeat and fun selections!

Mark your calendars for the upcoming school play, James and the Giant Peach, on February 4th & 5th! The cast and crew are working hard to prepare for this first in person play since the 19-20 school year! Don't miss this family-friendly event!

• January 18th at 6:30pm via Zoom: Cedar Park's social worker will do a short presentation and Holli, our volunteer coordinator, will demonstrate how to use the volunteer website to ensure you are signed up correctly in the system.

• February 15th at 6:30 (location TBD): CPMS's Community resource officer

• March 15th at 6:30 (locationTBD): BHS and High School information for families of 8th graders

At the Timeberwolves Night event we were able to fill several committee leads. Thanks to those of you who signed up on the clipboard!

We have two some additional vacancies available:

• PTC Vice President: Participate in PTC board meetings and support the events and fundraisers of the PTC.
• PACK store: Work with school admins to purchase and organize this positive behavior incentive program
• 8th Grade Send-Off Coordinator: Help organize the 8th grade send-off in June!
  
• Student Store: Manage the supplies at the student store & help train volunteers
