Dear Canby Families,

As you continue to enjoy the warm days of Summer Break, we want to be sure to remind you that school starts Tuesday, Sept. 5!

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! We are excited that you and your family are a part of the Canby School District, where we are continuing to consider and act on our vision question: “How do we create a vibrant and engaged learning community dedicated to growth for all?” We want to ensure that each student feels happy and proud about their school experience.

For those who are new to Canby Schools, this is your monthly “CSD Top 3,” those three things we think you’d like to know, plus the school meal menus. You can find the current and past newsletters on our Communications web page. Enjoy!

Our schools are preparing to welcome you with registration and meet-and-greet events. Important dates are always listed on our online calendars and are highlighted below. Mark your calendars!

School meals are available at a small cost for all students and for free based on need. It is important for families who may have a need to fill out an updated free and reduced meal application as soon as possible to avoid being charged unnecessarily! In Oregon, those who qualify for reduced-price meals receive meals at no cost along with those who qualify for free meals as the Oregon Legislature provides funding to cover the difference.

Student Transportation of America provides bus transportation for Canby School District. Together with STA, we want to make every ride a great ride! If you plan to take advantage of bus transportation this year, please check out the notes below!

• Take a look at this Checklist for a Great Ride, and please share it with your students.

• Tentative bus routes are posted on our transportation web page and will be updated a few times each year, but for the latest route information and to track your student’s bus in real time, use the Traversa Ride 360 app – available online and for free in the App Store and Google Play.

• To add a student in the app for the first time, click “Find Student” and fill in all fields: the student’s six-digit student ID number, their school (for high school students, try the “small loop” option first), and their grade level (include a zero for single-digit grade levels, e.g. 09 for a freshman). For help, contact STA at 503-263-1007.

For information on upcoming events and opportunities for children and families, take a look at the flyers posted on our Community Bulletin Board. Note that many flyers are submitted from outside Canby School District, and Canby School District does not necessarily sponsor or endorse them.
