Instructional Strategies & Resources
Focus on English Language Development
English Language Development (ELD) must be incorporated into all classes taught by non-ESL licensed teachers in which ELs are enrolled. These teachers are responsible for deliberately planning for and incorporating language instruction as well as supports, modifications, and accommodations needed to allow ELs to access the standards to which the course is aligned.
Resources to Support Instructional Practice
Speaking of Curriculum
Considering a Curriculum Audit
Embarking on a curriculum audit is not a small or simple task. There are many complex components that comprise the curriculum we use to provide high-quality instruction for students. Educational leadership consultant and school leader, Cesar de Leon, M.Ed., co-authored "How to Evaluate Curriculum" to provide a quick listing of considerations you may make as you embark upon this task. This is worth the quick read and can be a great share with any curriculum committee members that are working with you in this endeavor.
