River Ridge Principal Update

Dear River Ridge Staff,

We hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. We are writing to inform you of some recent changes within our school district and to seek your valuable input and participation as we select a new leader for our beloved River Ridge Elementary.

As you might already know, Shelley Roberts will start next school year as the Principal of Tarvin Elementary. While we are thrilled for Shelley and the wonderful opportunity she has been given, we cannot help but feel a tinge of sadness as we bid her farewell. Shelley has been an invaluable community member, and her dedication and commitment to our students and staff will be greatly missed.

We assure you that the recruitment of our next principal is a matter we take very seriously. Your input is crucial in finding a leader who will continue to foster the spirit of excellence and care at River Ridge Elementary. Your voice matters, and we want to hear from each and every one of you regarding your aspirations for your next leader.

We have organized two avenues for you to share your thoughts and expectations to facilitate this important dialogue. Firstly, we will conduct Zoom listening sessions on Thursday, June 15. This will allow those who prefer remote participation to contribute their insights. Click here to see the times and RSVP for the Zoom sessions. Additionally, we are planning an in-person listening session on Wednesday, July 12, at River Ridge Elementary from 2:30-3:30 P.M. We understand your schedules may vary, and we encourage you to attend the session that best suits your availability.

We also recognize that some individuals may be unable to attend any of these offerings due to personal circumstances. In such cases, we have created an electronic survey allowing you to submit your feedback conveniently. Rest assured, all information provided will be coded for analysis. Please know that this survey is intentionally left as an open-ended response so that we can gather as much information as possible. All responses are read, and overarching themes are shared with the interview committee. Please complete this survey by Monday, July 24.

The next phase in the process is a screening interview of potential candidates to determine who will move to the full committee interview. The full committee interview is where we need your help. Having parents and staff representatives involved in interviews is important. Thus, please recommend a River Ridge Elementary School staff member you believe would represent the campus well. Please utilize this form for your recommendations. The form will remain open until Thursday, July 13, at 4:30 P.M. If you are submitting multiple names, please complete separate forms. While we would love everyone to participate, we only have 3 slots available.

We will separate all names into 3 groups: K-2, 3-5, and all other staff members. A random drawing from each group will make the selection of representatives. We will notify committee members if they have been selected by the end of the day on Monday, July 17. We are tentatively scheduling the full committee interviews for Thursday, August 3, from 5:30-8:30 P.M. Staff representatives will need to be able to commit to the full evening beginning at 5:30 P.M.

Our utmost priority is finding the right leader for River Ridge Elementary. We are committed to selecting an individual with the qualities and skills necessary to address the unique needs of our campus. Your input will play an invaluable role in shaping the profile we seek in our next principal.
