Principal's Update
May 15, 2020
Dear BHS students and families,
We are approaching the home stretch and school will be ending soon! Don't let that monkey in your brain take over and let you procrastinate until the very end. Get your work done now so you won't have to take those classes again in summer school or in the fall. If you end up letting that monkey take over, the summer school flyer can be found by scrolling down a bit. Our hope is that you can take a break from online courses over the summer, so please finish strong and get your work completed.
Most of the lockers have been cleaned out. If you left something in your locker, Mr. Pruett will call you personally to set up a time to pick up your belongings. Start collecting your school materials now and keep them in one place so that you will be able to find them easily when we start collecting them again.
I know this has been a very strange and confusing time for you, your parents, and all of us teachers as well. I'm sick of hearing the term "unprecedented", but that's exactly what this is. This is a unique time in history for all of us, and we've not ever had to adjust so quickly to a new lifestyle. We understand that you are missing your friends, your family, and interacting socially and in-person. Many families are struggling with working crazy hours, or struggling because they aren't working at all. We understand there is stress, anxiety, loneliness, and boredom. It's okay to ask for help. It's okay to reach out to someone just to talk and hear their voice. It's okay to feel all the feelings you have. You are entitled to them!
If you haven't seen them posted on social media, John Krasinski's Some Good News is always a quick way to put a smile on my face. I highly suggest watching a few of them! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOe_y6KKvS3PdIfb9q9pGug
As always, stay safe, stay healthy, stay positive, and stay BUCKSTRONG!
Sincerely,
Mrs. DeMaio
Athletic News from Mr. Hoover
Good Afternoon, The MHSAA for the 2020-21 school year will waive the pre-participation sports physical requirement for students in any grade who received a valid physical for sports during the 2019-20 school year (completed on or after April 15th). You will be required to complete a two-page MHSAA Annual Sports Health Questionnaire found at www.buchananathletics.com under files/links listed as 2020 Health Questionnaire. This form must be filled out in its entirety including all questions, signatures, and updated insurance information and turned into the main office of the high school. If you did not have a sport physical in the school year 2019-20 this form is not for you and you will need a sports physical which is also located on the athletic website.
Attached is the health questionnaire, if you have any questions, contact me at lhoover@buchananschools.com
