Dear IG Families:

This week has been a whirlwind here at Ivan Green! We have had so much going on as we returned from break. Four classes came back to some construction which was completed over the break. We all reviewed routines and got back into the swing of showing HEART at school.

This week was Read Across America week and our students and teachers read hundreds of books throughout the week! Our I-van Green bus was fueled by reading and traveled across the entire country by the end of the week. I am so proud of our students and thankful that they kept the bus going all week long, so I didn’t break down midtrip!

This week, we also wrapped up our Black History Month Halls of Fame project. During the month of February, every class chose one influential black person to learn about. They each decorated their classroom doors to represent those people. Next week, classes will walk around to visit other doors and learn about new people. Pictures of our doors are in the slideshow just below this message.

The work was completed in time! The chalkboards have been removed and filled with drywall. The drywall will not be finished until this summer. The picture below shows Mrs. Nuijens' room as work in progress. They are all put back together now!

All four elementary schools are teaming up for a day at Innovation Field on Sunday, June 4 for the 1:05 game. The link below gives access to tickets in a section reserved for our elementary schools.

Mr. Hiley drove the I-Van Green van... across the country!
