FUN RUN
We kicked Friday off with our Fun Run assembly. Kids were so excited for our upcoming bubble run. We need everyone's support of our main fundraiser to make it a success. HEPTO has worked hard to make this a FUNdraiser with many cool incentives along the way! Kids are so excited for the opportunities to earn individual, class, and school-wide prizes as each goal is met.

SHELTER IN PLACE VS. LOCKDOWN
There is a very big difference between a shelter in place and a lockdown. There will be times throughout the year that we call a shelter in place. This simply means that for a number of reasons we may need to keep the hallways clear. Students continue learning in their classrooms, we just ask for them to stay out of the hallways for a short period of time. Most of the time, this lasts just 2-5 minutes. The most common reason we do this is to protect the dignity of a student who may be having a moment that needs to be kept private, or if there has been vomitting or an accident in the hallways so we can clean it up. Families will not be notified of a shelter in place of this nature. A lockdown is used in an emergency safety situation. In a lockdown blinds are pulled, students gather in a corner of the classroom where they cannot be seen, and everyone is silent. Families will always be contacted if a lockdown takes place at our school. Please note the difference between a lockdown and a shelter in place and rest assured, if there are any events that you need to be made aware of as a parent, you will be notified. A shelter in place is nothing to be alarmed about. As with anything, our direction to our students is, "Listen to your teacher or the adult you are with. They will guide you."
