Thank you for your patience on Thursday during the Clever outage. We know that this unexpected outage was challenging for so many. Your patience and communication about the issue was greatly appreciated. Please know that our tech department responded swiftly and collaborated with Clever to solve the problem. We are always grateful for their work and dedication to our families and students.

Today, you will find your child's progress reports posted on Seesaw. It is hard to believe we are halfway through the second trimester already. Please review that report and contact your child's teacher with any questions or concerns.

Please continue to check-in on your children about how they are REALLY doing (not just what they say to brush you off). More than ever, with COVID continuing and darkness and winter here, please, please, please check in on your children. If you have any concerns at all or if they just seem to be acting differently, please don't hesitate to confidentially reach out to our social worker Mr. Hofer, chofer@sd104.us, myself, avenegonia@sd104.us, our associate principal, Mrs. Leone, sleone@sd104.us, or any of your child's teachers. Our kids' mental health is beginning to be discussed more and more on a local, state, and national level, and we all need to do continue to do our part in keeping them safe by letting them know that this continues to be tough and that we care about them deeply. See the chart below this update for some ideas about how you can connect (or reconnect) with your children even more.

Our district social work team is dedicated to helping students and families as the pandemic continues. Please complete the social emotional screener by January 18, so that we can allocate needed supports.

As a reminder, there is no school or meal service on Monday as we are off in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Virtual classes resume Tuesday at 7:50, and meal service resumes Tuesday as well.

On Friday, January 22 from 9:00-12:00, there will be a supply pick-up for families. Times will not be assigned, so families can come at any time during the allotted timeframe. This will be a contactless pick-up. Please pull up in front of school facing north with student names displayed in the window, which will assist us in the process of gathering materials. Staff will bring supplies to your car.

FIRST GRADE FAMILIES ONLY

Students in first grade will be receiving a new device. Please bring the current SD 104 device and charger with you. We will exchange this for the new device. It is very important to bring the current device as we are unable to issue a new device without collecting the old device.

To honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we would like to offer resources from the Smithsonian. As Dr. King said, "We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice." His words still hold meaning today, as we all work towards a world of peace and equality.
