Friday, September 30th
From the Principals' Offices
We just keep getting busier and busier here at Brookwood! It was another fun-filled week at both schools. The highlight of the week, however, was our annual Gold Walk for Pediatric Cancer Awareness. BES and BMS students, staff, and families joined together this afternoon to walk the grounds at BMS in support of children fighting cancer and their families. It was great to see our "littles" buddied up with our "bigs" working together to help bring light to such a worthy cause. HUGE thanks to Ms. Mohr for organizing this event. If you would still like to make a donation to the Kisses from Keegan and Friends foundation, please contact your student's school office.
This coming week is Homecoming Week at Badger High School! We will be joining in the fun of homecoming week. We've got fun dress up days happening in both buildings all week starting with Favorite Sports Team Monday. Be sure to read on for additional dress up days!
This week also marks the beginning of Safety Month at Brookwood. In the coming weeks students in both schools will engage in several activities to promote both physical and emotional safety and well-being. This week, the main focus will be Respect & Anti-Bullying. We ask that all families partner with us by making time to have a conversation with their child(ren) about bullying and being kind to others. Click the button below for a list of important talking points. Upcoming topics include internet safety, school safety, inclusion, and drug awareness and prevention (upper grades only).
Lastly, Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner, on Wednesday, October 26th and Thursday, October 27. Conferences are an important time for you and your child’s teachers to meet and discuss any celebrations, questions, or concerns you may have. Your child’s teacher will be sharing information about his/her performance in class and on recent assessments. Our goal is to accommodate all families so that we have 100% participation at both schools! A letter was sent home this week with your Brookwood student soliciting your preference for conference date, time, and format (in-person, virtual, or phone). Firm conference times will be communicated to families the week prior to conferences.
Enjoy this beautiful fall weather, Mustangs! Have a great weekend!

FROM THE CLASSROOM...
What's Happening in Mrs. Gahart's Class?
What's Happening in Miss Bartucci's Science Class?
In Miss. Bartucci's science class, we are learning about how rocks break down through physical and chemical weathering. The student scientists got to explore the effects of chemical weathering. They worked with the materials such as vinegar, droppers, Petri-dishes, and even science goggles!! They were looking for a chemical reaction between the rocks (basalt, limestone, sandstone, and marble), and vinegar. We had a lot of fun the next day seeing the effects of the chemical reaction and the crystals that were left behind!
