A MESSAGE FROM MRS. CAUDILL
I hope everyone had a relaxing Thanksgiving break and you had time to rest and rejuvenate with your family. It is so hard to believe that it is December! We are one-third of the way through our school year. As I reflect on this year thus far, I am amazed by the amount of learning that has taken place.
As we navigate through this year, we will continue to support our students academically while also focusing on their social-emotional well-being. We believe that students are more likely to succeed when they feel safe, accepted, and included. At Amerman we are investing the time needed to build trusting relationships and learn more about the needs of each student as an individual. Once we understand what motivates them and the challenges they may be facing, we can properly equip them with the support and resources they need to grow and learn.
We have exceptional students, staff, and families. I am humbled to be a part of this journey with all of you. I know that we will do whatever it takes to lift each other up and support every success along the way. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.
Stay well,
Devon Caudill

NOVEMBER ROAR ASSEMBLY
For the first time in a looooong time, we had an in-person ROAR Assembly and it was sooooo much fun! We sang, we danced and we celebrated student leadership and positivity. Check out the video below of our winners and some of our dance moves!
We also went over our new school-wide goal. Ask your Bobcat what we are working on as a school. Here's a hint - it has to do with our recess to lunch transition and how our Bobcats should be during this transition.

WELCOME JULIE REDWINE - OUR NEW SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER!
Hello! My name is Julie Redwine and I would like to introduce myself as the new School Social Worker for Amerman Elementary! I am a graduate of Michigan State University as well as Wayne State University. I am a 15 year resident of Northville and am married with 4 children, 2 who have graduated from Northville Public Schools and 2 currently in Northville High School. YOUNG 5'S - KINDERSTANGS - FALL 2024
Get ready for an educational adventure as Northville Public Schools introduces a Young 5's Program, launching in Fall 2024! Geared towards ensuring kindergarten readiness for our little learners, this tuition-free program is designed to boost academic, social, language, and fine motor skills. It will be a five-day-a-week program that serves as a bridge between preschool and typical kindergarten. These classrooms will be for students born between July 1, 2019-December 1, 2019.
Enrollment for our new Young 5's Program will open January 2024. We have posted several helpful documents on our Young 5's website including Frequently Asked Questions, Early Learners Program Comparison, and Kindergarten Readiness.
Please complete our Interest Survey if you would like to receive additional information in the spring and instructions for enrollment.
AMERMAN FAMILIES, WE NEED YOUR EXPERT INPUT!
As part of our year of adventure, curiosity and understanding as we go Around the World in 180 Days..
We are learning more about various cultures and differences that may exist among people. If you would like to help educate our Bobcats about your culture or differences, please complete the attached slide and email to winneje@northvilleschools.org. This information will be shared throughout the year once a week in our daily announcements and may be featured on our lobby monitor. This will help our students learn about cultures around the world and accept differences.

YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED
Northville Public Schools is Applying to Receive Grant Funding Through the State School Aid Act
This funding is designated for activities, services, or products necessary to improve or maintain the mental health of students and staff and/or improve student safety.
We are seeking input and feedback from district stakeholder groups, including students, parents and staff members, as we begin to develop a plan for the most appropriate use of the funds to support the mental health and safety needs of students, within the parameters of the grant.
Your input is valued greatly and we hope you take a few minutes and participate in this brief survey. We look forward to learning about your thoughts, ideas and priorities for use of these funds to support mental health and improve student safety.

CONGRATULATIONS MRS. CHARBONEAU AND MRS. TIBA
Both Mrs. Charboneau and Mrs. Tiba were the winners of the Thank a Staff, Super Sub! They will both get a half day off where someone from Central Office will cover their classroom! If you would like to Thank a Staff or nominate someone for an ABCD award, please see the information below!
PTA NEWS YOU CAN USE!
On our half day, the top two fundraisers for the Fun Run got to tape Mrs. Caudill to the wall - it was so much fun and the kids had a great time. All 550+ students enjoyed a popcorn party with popcorn popped by our PTA Board and many Room Parents. They earned this party by reaching the stretch fundraising goal, and they got to enjoy a livestream of Mrs. Caudill getting taped! Ms. Borchard & Mrs. Morse's classes also enjoyed their pizza parties that they earned for being the top fundraising classrooms! Great job, Bobcats!!
Holiday Drive Thru Scavenger Hunt - 12-8 - 12/10, 6-9pm
Back by popular demand, our Holiday Drive Thru Scavenger Hunt is back! Look for items that don't quite fit in at the decorated houses.
The map of participating houses and scavenger hunt items will be in the Bobcat Broadcast and the PTA facebook group next week!
Last Call for Game Night Volunteers!
We currently do not have any volunteers for Game Night on January 11 - if we do not get anyone to volunteer to run this, we will have to cancel.
If you are interested in helping with this or any other event, sign up for the Social Events Committee at www.AmermanPTA.com.
Class Directory Now Available!
The PTA & Amerman staff worked together to complete a full digital directory of all Amerman families (minus those who opted out). Our hope is that this will make it easier to contact families for parties, play dates, and any communication needed with classmates. This is an exclusive PTA perk - all families are included in the directory regardless of PTA involvement, but ONLY PTA members have access to the directory!

LEADER IN ME DECEMBER FOCUS - HABIT 3: PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST
Work First, Then Play!
What this means: Focus on what is important, schedule the important things first. Don’t be a dreamer - stay focused!
“I spend my time on things that are most important.”
“I say no to things I know I should not do.”
“I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan.”
“I am disciplined and organized.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Do your homework as soon as you come home from school.
2. Do something you have been putting off for a long time.
3. Think about your most important responsibilities. Do them first.
Great Books for Habit #3- Put First Things First
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Pokey and the Spelling Test by Sean Covey
How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss
Whistle for Willie by Ezra Jack Keats
Froggy Gets Dressed by Jonathan London
