A Message from our Principal!
Greetings Braves Family,
Second semester is off to an excellent start!
Our school theme this year is, "Game On! Watch Us RISE." We have continuously celebrated our WINS this year in all aspects of our school community, including athletics, forensics, Air Force JROTC, SCA, and our music programs and events. Throughout the year we continue to recognize our students and staff for their many accomplishments. There is always something to celebrate at the River!
We are excited about the opportunities for our students to participate in upcoming events this semester. Please join us for the Miss and Mr. Indian River Pageant on Friday, February 16, at 7:00 p.m. The cost will be $5.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door.
Our theme for this year's Black History Month is "Art as a Platform for Social Justice." It is a wonderful month of reflection and celebration for our students and staff. Thank you in advance to the Black History Committee for their hard work and efforts.
On February 8, all students will attend "The Beautiful Tomorrow Assembly." We are excited for our students to hear this powerful and positive message that will encourage them to make decisions that will positively impact their future, resulting in better tomorrows. Visit this link to view a video about this inspiring assembly. Thank you, in advance, to the PTSA who is helping to sponsor this assembly.
All Juniors can participate in the Ring Dance Event on Saturday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. even if they have not purchased a ring. The permission slips will be available in all lunches and outside of room C17 before and after school soon. The Junior Ring Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 21, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
Please do not hesitate to call the main office at (757) 578-7000 if you have any questions or concerns.
Take care,
Naomi Dunbar
