Staff of the week
Mrs. Austin is currently in her first year as the Verona High School principal. So far, she has helped make many changes to the school and is doing a wonderful job as principal. Previously, she had worked in Joplin Trinity as a para where she helped disabled children. She attended Smithville High School in Texas. She then went to the Neosho Beauty College, she got her Bachelor’s at MSSU, she got her Master’s at MSU, and she got her Specialist’s at Arkansas State. She really enjoys helping other people and she feels like she succeeds in doing so, especially the ones that don’t want to help themselves. Mrs. Austin has been married to her husband Jason for 25 years. They have three children, all young adults; Brooklynn, 19, Grant, 21, and Jordan, 23. When she has free time, Mrs. Austin loves playing golf and spending time with her family.
Student of the week
The one and only Ovidio De leon is our student of the week. His perseverance, determination, and being a little ambitious makes him a good student. Having all of that is going to be useful when he goes to college and maybe get his CPA. He's going to need some motivation for getting him through college. His mother, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers are a pretty good start for motivation.
Plus, the 1 dog his family has is named Canelo. Hopefully, he does not go to college with an awful buzz cut. If he does have that haircut maybe he can wear Vans to distract people from the hair. Freeman is his favorite teacher here. He hopes there will be a teacher like Freeman in college. The backpack rule hopefully will not be applied to the college he goes to. He hates that we have that rule.
