Wednesday May 31 - First Day of Summer School (please ask for application if needed and send in ASAP)

Please note: If it is raining on field day we WILL still have field day. We will just have it inside. Regardless of the weather, everyone is invited to come participate in field day. If you do plan to come, please sign in inside the office.

If the field day is outside, please dress your child in weather appropriate clothing. They may bring sunscreen and a drink. I can help apply the sunscreen if needed. They will also be wearing their red tie dye shirts during the field day (I still have them and they will get to take them home after field day.)

Please make sure you are practicing sight words with their child every night. Sight word recognition improves reading fluency and automaticity, allowing the student to focus their efforts on the more mentally demanding task of reading comprehension. Here is a list of sight words they are working on right now.

Please make sure to have your child read 20 minutes every night. Reading can include; sight words, listening to someone read, reading to someone, reading apps, myon, writing sight words, and practicing spelling words. Please make sure to keep track of your child's reading minutes on their reading log that will be sent home in their Friday Folders at the beginning of each month. Excelsior Springs School District requires that students read 400 minutes a month.
