Community Crew News #23
January 27th, 2024
Greeting Conway Community,
Making learning public is an essential component in building bridges amount the school, community members, school partners, and families. It's what makes Expeditionary Learning schools authentic, purposeful, and puts our learners in the driver's seat. This week 1st grade and 2nd grade hosted Celebrations of Learning and made learning public for our learners. Celebrations of learning showcase and honor the work of all students, empowering them to take the lead role in communicating about their learning. These special events may occur at the end of the year, the end of an expeditions (long-term project, or end of a module. Our grade levels have the ability to customize these events as both 1st and 2nd grade did this week. As an Expeditionary Learning school, Making learning public is key! Congratulations to all our first graders and second graders for showcasing high quality work.
Coffee & Crew with the Principal
Engaging families and the community in the life of the school is more important than ever. This week we welcomed our families to our Coffee with the Principal. You are all such an important part of the broader Conway community crew that supports our learners success. Thank you all for attending and engaging in meaningful conversation about 6th grade applications, School of Choice, the social emotional needs of students. Our special guest, Miss Daisy, our social worker, was grateful to make this connection with all of you.
Stay tuned families for our next gathering.
Student Led Conferences are coming!
Student led conferences are deeply aligned to our EUSD Framework for the Future our EUSD learner profiles. In fact, this is an excellent example of an Empowered Learner as they demonstrate their curiosity, are self-directed, and able to overcome challenges in pursuit of interest and goals. SLCs also builds skills of being Effective Communicators as they are the leaders of their own learning during this conference and they learn how to articulate their progress toward goals. Please click on the 2nd - 6th SLC parent letter , 1st grade SLC letter, kindergarten SLC parent letter.
If you do not live within our boundaries and want to remain at Conway, please remember to submit your SOC. The last day to submit a School of Choice application is Wednesday, January 31st.
Communication is extremely important to everyone at our EPIC school. Please make sure to scroll all the way through the weekly message. If you miss a message, you can view all communication on our website under "NEWS".
I am grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion. Together we are creating an EPIC school.
We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.
Always in crew,
Tina Meglich, Principal

Birthday Announcements
You may ask how do we celebrate birthdays at Conway?
We have two unique ways that we celebrate.
First, in the main office you can fill out a form to have your child's birthday acknowledged on our electronic marquee to display a 24 hour message. The cost is only $5. If you cannot make it into the office, you can complete the electronic form https://forms.gle/3dMLHhiK5MTXJdpL9
and send in $5 cash and send it in with your learner. If it is a surprise please put it in an envelope addressed to the Conway ASB.
Second, our office staff has added a fun way to acknowledge each student's birthday. Students can visit the office for a special birthday pencil and cougar paw.
