Black History Month, which is celebrated each year during February, is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. History. We will celebrate African Americans by reading about them on our morning announcements and featuring them in our entranceway for all to see.

In Social Studies class fourth-graders researched different Native American Tribes. Students used their research information to create models of different Native American Tribe shelters during STEM class. They collaborated and followed the Design Process. Take a look at some of the projects below! Nice work 4th graders!

For years, Willoughby-Eastlake has been fortunate to work with local Lions Club Members in support of vision and eye health for our students. If your child lacks adequate vision insurance coverage and you are concerned about eye health or vision needs, please reach out to your school nurse. In addition, if you have received a referral for your child's vision screening and are not able to coordinate a follow-up visit for them, please reach out. The school nurse can coordinate assistance through the local Lions Clubs. February is National Blah Buster......Let's bust the winter blah's at Jefferson with our Fun in February Calendar! Please be mindful of how dressing up can be distracting for students or uncomfortable throughout the day. Please keep it simple!

Students can now purchase up to 2 boxes of popcorn. Popcorn will be sold on Fridays. Each box of popcorn will be sold for 50 cents.

• Because of the increase of COVID cases at this time, Father/Daughter Dance (February 11th) is canceled. We will explore another activity as an option in the spring.

• Open House (February 17th) is cancelled.

We attempt to have the children outside if the temperature is 20 degrees or above. Please send students to school with snow boots, hats, coats, and gloves. Wet tennis shoes on the hallway floors are very slippery and unsafe. Thank you!
