Fifth grade band and Orchestra begins Monday
Band will meet Tuesdays, 12:00pm - 12:40pm, and Fridays, 8:00am - 8:45am.
Orchestra meets Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7:45am to 8:30am.
The parent/guardian of the student will need to complete the attached registration form in order for their student to participate in band or orchestra.
We encourage all families, who are able, to rent an instrument. If your family is able to rent, please visit https://www.mukilteoschools.org/Page/16577 As of Monday, you can still rent online but will need to pick it up at the music store that you're renting from.
The district has a very limited number of instruments for students to borrow for the school year. If you need to borrow an instrument for your student to participate in band or orchestra, please indicate that on the attached registration form. Please know that there are a limited number of instruments and your student might not be able to play their first choice.
If you need assistance in measuring your student, you may reach out to their band or orchestra teacher by email for assistance. The list of teachers and class schedule is available on our district website. Please visit https://www.mukilteoschools.org/Page/16578

fourth and fifth grade choir
Choir is a free activity, open to all 4th and 5th graders. It is a fun addition to our students’ experience in their General Music class, and is perfect preparation for participation in Junior High choirs.
Choir meets before school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 8:30 am to 8:55 am, beginning October 3 and ending June 13. Choir will be held in the Music Room. Please have your student enter the school through the Main Office entry, by the flag pole. In addition to some daytime performances at Fairmount, the Choir may also have several off-campus singing opportunities.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns, and thank you for supporting your child’s love of music.

TRANSPORTATION
CHANGES:
Please notify the office at 425-366-2900, not only the teacher, when you have a transportation change. It is important for us to know where to place your student at dismissal. NO CHANGES will be made after 2:45pm on a Monday - Thursday, and no later than 1:30pm on Fridays.
PICK UP LOOP:
Please stay in your vehicle, circling around with the traffic. Having your car tag visible is also helpful to speed up the pick up process. We also ask you to pull up beyond the front door in order to maximize space.
Fairmount Behavior Expectations
We look forward to partnering with you for a successful school year. Please review
our Student Behavior Expectations as we work together to support your child.
We utilize the PBIS, (Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports), approach focusing on positive supports, data driven decisions, and tiered responses to student behavior. We clearly teach, model, practice, and coach expectations to students as they learn.
When mistakes are made, we re-teach and help students learn from their mistakes. Consequences are meant to teach, not punish. We are also committed to teaching Social Emotional Learning through the RULER approach which teaches students how to Recognize, Understand, Label, Express, and Regulate feelings and emotions.
Our Fairmount Expectations are:
Be Safe
Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
Minor Behaviors are behaviors that can be managed within a few minutes and do not cause major disruption to the learning environment. Examples: disrespect, disruption, horseplay, abusive/inappropriate language/profanity.
Major Behaviors will be referred to our Student Support Center and/or administrators. Examples of major behaviors are:
- Repeated Minor behaviors (more than 3 occurrences)
Ongoing interference with other’s learning
Threats to the safety of others
Repeated abusive/inappropriate language/profanity
Racial, discriminatory, or sexually explicit language
Major disruption to learning
Cheating
Damage to school property, including technology
If a student receives a referral for a major behavior, an investigation will be completed, and parent(s) or guardian(s) will be notified of behavior and outcome.

Drinks from home
We recognize that students like to bring drinks from home. In fact, we encourage students to bring water bottles! However, other drinks such as, energy drinks and soda are not allowed. Students will be asked to bring them back home. We do have milk available at breakfast and at lunch for students.
Thank you for your help.
