Note From the Nurse
The last day of school this year is Friday, May 20th. We ask that only a parent or guardian please come to school to pick up all your child’s medication, including any prescription medication, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Benadryl, on or before Friday, May 20th. Any medication left in the clinic after 4:00 PM on May 20th will be destroyed in accordance with FISD policy. If you’re not sure if you left medication in the clinic for your child this year, please feel free to contact me so I can check for you.
We hope you will understand that this is a safety measure to try and prevent the medication from getting into the wrong hands. This not only protects your child, but it protects other students as well.
For safety reasons, we ask that if your child’s medications include any kind of asthma medicine or an Epi Pen that you wait until the last day of school to take your child’s medications home with you.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please call me at (469) 633-4358 if you have any questions. I wish you all a very happy, safe, and healthy summer!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month
The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It is no surprise that the past two years have been difficult on teens and children alike. Mental health lies on a continuum and includes emotional, psychological and social well-being. A healthy mind is as important to a child’s development as a healthy body. One in five children have a diagnosable mental health condition, yet only 20% of those children receive the help they need. Children are often affected by world events but also by daily stressors and life circumstances whether that be the beginning of a new school year, the news on television, the influx of social media, or even a bad day at school can impact our children more than we realize. Recognizing stressors and even trickier getting your child to engage with you in conversation can often be the keys to their overall mental well-being.
May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects how the small intestine processes gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. The damage from gluten is a cumulative process, which means the longer without a diagnosis and treatment the more inflammation occurs in the small intestine leading to symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach pain, bloating, and discomfort to name a just a few. Currently, the gold standard for diagnosis is a blood test. Many foods have hidden gluten in them, therefore careful attention must be given when it comes to following a gluten free diet. Below are some facts about this disease.

Apex Summer Success
We are proud to offer students in grades 6-12 access to summer learning options. This online program will offer students access to personalized instruction in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, as well as STAAR, SAT, ACT, and TSIA2 tutorials. You and your student can use these tutorials to identify and address learning gaps, to ensure students are ready for grade-level instruction in the upcoming school year, and/or to prepare for upcoming STAAR or college readiness exams. And all offerings are at no cost to you! These asynchronous virtual learning opportunities will be open for students to self-enroll between May 16 - August 31, 2022.
Students will access their Apex Tutorials through the Frisco ISD Student Portal. Your student will have access to self-enroll in all courses (High School, Middle School, and College Readiness) and can then select which Tutorials they want to use. Refer to the How To Self-Enroll and Campus ecodes below.
Please encourage your student to work frequently in Tutorials to retain the content they learned. Students should also complete the Pretest at the start of a unit. Supporting topics may be assigned to your student if they need more practice on that topic. It will benefit students to complete supporting topics before completing modules.

Carpool Expectations
DRIVE Safely and slowly
Please drive safely and slowly through the carpool lanes for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Please help create a safe environment by following the procedures outlined below:
Morning Arrival:
- All non-busing students will enter the cafeteria doors located on the north side of the building. Due to the bus drop off, cars are not allowed to drop off students in the front of the building between 7:45 a.m. – 8:25 a.m.
All students arriving by car should enter at the carpool entrance and be dropped off on the north side of the building outside the cafeteria.
Please follow the carpool procedures.
Afternoon Pick-Up:
Parents may pick up students from the two inside lanes along the traffic flow; the outside lane is reserved for moving traffic.
6th Grade – exit 6th grade pod
7th Grade – exit 7th grade pod
8th Grade – exit 8th grade pod
Additional Recommendations:
1. Alter pick-up time later when there are less vehicles in the carpool lane
2. Rideshare with a friend or neighbor
