Parent/Teacher Conferences
Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 5th from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday, October 6th from 8 a.m .- Noon. This is an opportunity for students, parents/guardians, and teachers to focus on setting meaningful goals. Teachers will be working with students to review their strengths and areas of improvement prior to the conference. Students will then set goals and brainstorm ideas to reach those goals which will be shared at his or her conference or before.
In order to prepare for these conferences, please reflect on this school year so far.
- What has been a success for your child?
- What has been a challenge?
- How can you support your child with reaching his or her goals?
The conferences will conclude with time for questions that you may have for your child or the teacher.

News from the Nurse
The October 15th deadline is fast approaching for families who have not completed your child’s Physical Exam and completed Immunization Record. Many reminders have been sent out. Please reach out to Nurse Peggy or Nurse Leeanna with a date the exam will be completed. If we do not hear from you before that date, there is a possibility that your child may be excluded from school until that requirement is completed. If you need any assistance, we are available and have many resources we can share. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.
Hearing and Vision screenings have started. If your child is supposed to be wearing glasses, please make sure your child brings them to school every day. We have found that many students that are having a hard time with the screenings are also having a hard time seeing the board in the classroom. Some already have glasses that they are supposed to wear daily, but they are not wearing them. The screenings are done to encourage and create healthy environments, so our students have the best opportunity to learn. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

One School One Book (OSOB)
We were thrilled to kick off our One School One Book program this week with the book Fenway and Hattie/Fenway y Hattie by Victoria J. Coe! The idea behind the One School One Book program is that as a school community of staff, students, and families, we all read the same book at the same time. By staying on the same reading schedule, we can all engage in the story together and share our thoughts as we go.
We would also love to see photos of your family reading the book together! If you have photos to share, please send them to LRC Director Brittany Brandenburg at brittany.brandenburg@d303.org.
Thanks for being our partners in creating wonderful reading experiences for Richmond students and helping us cultivate a love of reading in them.
