Guest Teacher Appreciation Day
Thank you so much to our guest teachers for being here during an absence of one of our staff members. You make an incredible contribution to our school by supporting our classroom environment so that learning can continue. We appreciate you continuing to make a daily impact on our students here at Norman North!
Upcoming Student Art Shows
Also, please check out our newly installed glass display case in the front hallway! Purchased through grant money, it's now stocked with Art 2 and 3D Art's creations! We're still waiting on a timer to come in, but it will eventually be lit during school hours.
Brianna Russ - Brianna was in AP last year and did a portfolio on portraits featuring people of different nationalities and physical differences in acrylic paint. Continuing her concept, she's using oil paint to create lifelike portraits of people close to her. She will be showing at the Nutrition Spot in Norman Dec 8th through the 11th.
Marianne Salinas - Mariann is in both AP Art and Independent Study this year, as well doing an amazing job as our Art Club president. Mariann is doing two separate portfolios this year, and her show will be focused on character design and capturing emotion. Her art is mainly digital but she'll also be selling stickers and buttons at her booth at Literati Press Dec 10 and 17th.
Remy Price and Peyton Summers - Remy's show focuses on the macabre and grotesque sides of humanity using oil paint and occasional mixed media. Remy will be showing at the Nancy O'brian Dec 12th through the break.
Peyton used inks and watercolor to define his character design show. He will also be showing at the Nancy O'brian Dec 12th through the break.
Kellen Blackburn - Kellen was in AP last year and his portfolio centered around high contrasted portraits using digital media. He's continuing his concentration from last year but now also using students from Norman North as models. He will be showing at Dutch Bros coffee in Norman Dec 12th through the 19th.

NNHS First Semester Finals 22-23
No finals (except for zero period) will be given before finals begin on December 14th.
Textbook returns & review will take place the first 30 minutes of a final.
Students who arrive late will not have any extended time past the end of the final.
ALL students must take finals unless a student has an approved exemption form.
Make-up finals must be approved by student’s assistant principal.
Students must have a handwritten note from parent (per final) to leave a final early. The earliest that students can leave is the last hour of each final.
AP students cannot exempt a first semester final if they are exempting a second semester final.
All grades before finals should be updated by Friday, December 9th.
NO FRESHMEN EXEMPTIONS THIS YEAR. ALL FRESHMEN TAKE ALL FINALS.
10-12th Grade Exemptions can be signed until end of day on Monday, December 12th.
NNHS 10-12th Grader's First Semester Exemptions
Exemption forms will be available from students' attendance secretaries in the main office beginning on 12/5 for students whose attendance meets the requirements below. Please call your attendance secretary if you need to excused attendance in the last 5 school days.
Any 10th-12th grade NNHS student will be permitted to opt out of one semester end final of their choosing if they meet/follow these requirements:
Student has no more than 2 tardies for said class, and no unexcused absences in any classes INCLUDING advisory.
Student has an A in the class.
Students must complete form and turn into their teacher to exempt a final. Failure to properly turn in form voids exemption.
If a student chooses to opt out of a final, the final grade will be exempted and the student will receive the grade they had going into the final.
The student is not required to be present during the final if they have chosen to opt out of it.
Teachers can upon their request require students to take one of their semester end finals. Therefore if a teacher requests, a student cannot opt out of their final twice.
Students may not be exempt from unit tests in place of a final.
A student may not opt out of a final project.
Any Norman North principal has the right to take away this privilege for behavioral problems. To be exempt from a final is a privilege not a right, and therefore it can be revoked.
Only one exemption form per student per semester. No replacements given if sealed exemption form is lost.
9th graders will not receive exemptions because earning an exemption is a privilege that is earned along with 10th grade classification of credits. All students who are classified as 9th graders must take all of their finals.
