A Little About Me

Hello 3rd Grade Friends!

My name is Mrs. McManus and I am so excited to be your teacher this year. It's going to be a fantastic year full of learning and fun!

Here's a little bit about me.........

I was born in Florida but moved to a small town in North Carolina when I was ten. I have always enjoyed being outside. When I was younger I loved to ride motorcycles and roam the mountain we lived on. I enjoy helping others and knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. When I'm not working on things for school, I enjoy biking, shopping, and watching movies. I also enjoy spending time with the three furry friends that live at my house, Ally, Double, and Silvio.

About My Education...

This will be my 19th year of teaching 3rd grade at Wilkesboro Elementary School and my 25th year in the teaching profession. I went to college at Appalachian State University in Boone, where I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in elementary education. After a few years of teaching, I worked to become a National Board Certified Teacher.

Fun Fact- I was the 2021-22 Teacher of the Year for Wilkes County Schools. I was honored to be chosen to represent the amazing teachers in Wilkes County.

About My Family...

I live in Wilkesboro with my husband and three girls. My oldest daughter graduated from Furman University in the spring and is in the process of applying to vet schools. My middle daughter just started at Wingate University and has been accepted into the nursing program. My youngest daughter is a senior at the Wilkes Early College High School. She is the new drum major for the WCHS band and pole vaults for the track team.

My Favorites

Book: Because of Winn-Dixie is my favorite book.

Color: I like all of the colors of the rainbow.

Food: I love M&Ms, pizza and steak.

Animal: I love cats and dogs.

Saturday activity: I love biking, shopping and watching movies with my family.

School supply: I love ALL school supplies.
