Parent Update

Spring has sprung! At least it feels like it every other day. It is that time of year where we begin to think about placement for next year. Teachers and staff put a great deal of effort and time into placement, and I ask that you trust us to make placement decisions that keep the best interest of each and every child in mind. We welcome information that parents/guardians want to share to help us with this process. I ask that you please refrain from requesting specific teachers. Here are a few quick updates:

• Free skating event on Saturday, April 8!
• April 11 - We will be inviting 4th grade parents/guardians to come into school at 2:00 on April 11 for our Writing Celebration. We have spent 10 weeks working with our writer-in-residence Motoko to help all of our 4th graders write trickster tales. We can't wait to celebrate their amazing writing! • We have been registering kindergarteners and preparing for the future of Clough! If you have not registered your child yet, please make sure to go to the website to start the process.
• ELA Makeup MCAS will take place on Monday, April 10.
• 3rd and 4th grade families - See info below about a milk study that you could participate in.
• Our core value this month is RESPONSIBILITY. Students will be discussing responsibility during KCR time. I encourage families to think of ways for their children to demonstrate responsibility at home.
• Thank you PTO for purchasing a gaga ball pit for Clough! This new fun feature will built over vacation week...looking forward to this new fun addition to the back field!

P.S. Thank you to the parents who attended our free virtual workshop with Wendy O'Leary. I am hoping to plan some more with her and bring her to Clough to work with students and teachers. If you ordered her book, we hope to be able to send those home with your child before vacation week.

Clough PTO is proud to bring back a fun, family friendly paint event, sponsored by CLAYTIME who will donate a portion of the proceeds back to the PTO.

Please use the attached link to place your order - just in time for Mother's Day! Pieces will be painted that day, then brought back to the studio to be fired in the kiln and delivered back to the students at Clough.

Get Milk Delivered! Advance Science! Earn Money! Boston Children’s Hospital is conducting a research study to compare the effects of whole milk and nonfat milk on children’s nutrition and health. Learn about enrollment for 9-12 year olds at https://www.childrenshospital.org/milkstudy.

The Department of Mental Health has launched a new Behavioral Health Help Line that people can call or text at 833-773-2445. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in more than 200 languages. The help line can help individuals and families navigate the behavioral health system and access treatment, including mobile crisis services. District and school leaders are asked to please share this resource with staff, families, and students, where helpful. For more information, please see the FAQ.
