We are excited to welcome author Sara Shacter to Salt Creek and Swartz next Friday, February 10th! She'll be sharing her book "Just So Willow" as well as writing tips. Remember to send in your order form if you'd like a personalized book for your child!

On January 27, 2023 our second grade students were treated to the play, Charlotte's Web at Dominican University.

Please remember to send your student with a healthy snack EVERYDAY. Some healthy snack options are:

• Fruit and Veggies (prepared and in a Ziploc bag)

• Dry Cereal (NO MILK)

• Crackers

Mrs. Bauer's math group got to choose a special lunch for meeting their MAP math goal. Everyone loved their McDonalds!

Today is the 100th day of school! Can you believe how fast the time has gone? The students made shirts decorated with 100 items and did a fashion show to show off their creations. Staff got to have some fun too, dressing up as 100 year olds.

As a reminder, all students in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and any new/transfer students are required to have a dental examination on file by May 15th, 2023. The dental exam must be dated between November 15th, 2021 - May 15th, 2023. The link to the Illinois Dental Exam form is below. It is also available on our school website.

NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.

Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.

SC students did such an amazing job on their MAPs testing that they earned a Prize Drop. The Prize Drop landed on a DANCE PARTY.

"Extraordinarily Awesome" is one of the best ways to describe these staff members! They go above and beyond everyday for our students. Our schools are so fortunate to have such caring, dedicated individuals. Thank you being so EXTRAORDINARY!!

On Wednesday, February 1st our SC students gathered in the gym for a PBIS assembly. The assembly focused on character traits and following our school 3 B's. They did such a great job that they earned another prize drop!

Swartz students will not be having a Valentine's Day party. If you choose to send Valentines to school with your student please remember they cannot include edible treats.

All students at Swartz received a Frosty Card and a reading log. Once they read and complete what topics are on the card and log their reading they will be able to turn in. the card and receive a Frosty tag from Wendy's to get free Frosty's for the year! So let's get reading and turn in those Frosty Cards!

When your child is absent from school you must call the proper school office attendance line to let us know that your child will be absent. Even if it is a Non Covid, Non Illness or if you say that they don't feel well we still need any symptoms they have. All absences must have a reason when called in. Doors open at 7:30 at Stella May Swartz and 7:40 at Salt Creek Primary. If you drop your child off in the morning, please drop them off between 7:30 -7:40 for Swartz and 7:40 - 7:50 for Salt Creek, especially if your child will be eating breakfast at school. Instruction begins promptly at 7:40 for Swartz and 7:50 for Salt Creek. In order for your child to have enough time to eat and travel to their classroom, it is imperative that they arrive at school sooner rather than later! It is very disruptive to the office when your student is arriving late especially when it is during the pledge as well as to the classroom with instruction starting right away. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

New Notes from the Nurse 1.20.23 Parents if your child is sick and they have tested negative for Covid please follow up with your Dr.. Not only is there Covid but Step, Flu and SRV are going around and have the same or similar symptoms. Please do not send your child to school sick, there is a possibility you will get a phone call to pick them up.

New Notes from the Nurse 11.4.22 Parents, if your child is out sick for any covid-related symptoms and you are testing your child at home please take a picture of the result and email it to your school secretary or nurse as soon as possible. Remember that Covid symptoms are the same of other illnesses like sore throat, vomiting, fever and diarrhea.

The Health Offices at both Salt Creek Primary and Stella May Swartz are in need of gently used pants and shorts of all sizes for our Pre-K through 4th graders, in the event of an accident or spill at school. Sweatpants, basketball shorts, and any pants with a drawstring are preferred. If you have pants or shorts that you are willing to donate, please send them to either school addressed to the nurse or drop them off at the front desk.
