SPC Summer 2021 CTE Dual Credit/Articulated Credit Workshops Scheduled
South Plains College is hosting 10 CTE Dual Credit/Articulated Credit - Professional Development opportunities for summer 2021.
NOTE: Please see attached High School CTE Dual Credit / Articulated Credit Workshop Guidelines Comparison, FAQ document.
Teachers interested in teaching CTE Dual Credit in 2021/2022 must attend summer workshop(s).
10 opportunities consist of:
· 9 – CTE Dual Credit/Articulation Workshops
· 1 – Region 17/South Plains College sponsored Culinary Arts Professional Development
All workshops are hosted at listed locations. CTE Dual Credit/Articulation Workshops will include detailed course content discussion between SPC CTE Instructors and High School Teachers identifying and aligning college and high school courses eligible for CTE dual credit/articulation.
South Plains College CTE Dual Credit is provided at $50 per student, per year!
In order to meet CTE Dual Credit requirements, dual credit coursework discussions must occur between SPC instructors and high School teachers EVERY YEAR.
In order to meet CTE Articulated Credit requirements, CTE articulation discussions must occur between SPC instructors and high School teachers EVERY TWO YEARS.
CTE Dual Credit and Articulated Credit Workshops are required in order to:
1. Establish course equivalency to award college credit to high school students for their “earned” high school instructional experience
2. Establish course equivalency and confirm that high school instruction provided is preparing students to be successful in sequential, advanced college coursework.

Each year, ESC 16 (Amarillo area) and ESC 17 (Lubbock area) collaborate to bring two days of STEM immersion to regional teachers. Since this summer's conference will be hosted at the Education Service Center in Amarillo, click here to register.

Come be a part of the inaugural South Plains STEM Cohort! Many opportunities will be open to these participants this summer and, if funding continues, there will be more to come. Our K-12 science TEKS are being rewritten right now and learning through the Engineering Design Process will be a part of those new expectations (implemented in '23-'24 or '24-'25). NCCER Craft Instructor Training Opportunity
NCCER develops standardized construction and maintenance curriculum and assessments with portable credentials. These credentials are tracked through NCCER's Registry System that allows organizations to track the qualifications of their craft professionals and/or check the qualifications of possible new hires. To be an approved instructor and both teach and certify students, you must successfully complete this three-day teacher training offered by an NCCER Certified Master Trainer. In order to go through the training, you must hold the appropriate Master Craftsman Credentials. Craft Instructors must meet the following qualifications: 1. Experience at a minimum journey or technician level in their area of expertise OR 2. A minimum of three years of experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program.
