Principal's Desk
Dear Parents,
February 21 is our first built in snow make-up day this year. If we have not needed a snow day before that students will not have school. If we have had a snow day before then we will make the snow day up on February 21. We will remind everyone again before then.
Several have asked if they may send valentines in with their students this year. If your child brings in Valentines they must be sure to include all of their classmates. Each teacher will individually let their students know what their class will be doing this year. Treats that are sent in must be sealed and purchased from a store.
Our World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser is a huge success thanks to all of your hard work. Please get all of your money turned in by Friday February 11th so PTO can begin to put their plans in place to better support your children and teachers.
Thanks again for all you do at home to support your child's educational progress at home, such as nightly reading, practicing math facts and sight words

We have been really fortunate to keep mostly COVID free but we cannot let our guard down yet. Please continue your wellness checks at home. If you think you or your child has been a direct contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID we need a copy of their test results for the State reports we have to send in. Also, if your child is absent for any reason please call in each day to keep us updated.

Miss Fee's Classroom News
Third graders at Fayette Central celebrated the 100th day of school this month. Students practiced their writing composition skills by completing a prompt that stated "When I'm 100 years old..." Students applied skills such as sentence structure, capitalization, spelling, and punctuation. The school year has challenged these students and helped their develop into almost fourth graders. They are doing a fantastic job! We are now preparing and reviewing for our upcoming test IREAD-3. This involves synonyms, antonyms, prefixes, suffixes, homographs, reading comprehension, and identifying words with the same beginning/ending sounds. Wish us luck!

Stanley's Sixth Grade Class News
As we head into February, we are almost half way through the 3rd grading period. We have covered a lot of material so far, but we have quite a bit to cover to be ready for middle school by the end of the school year.
In math, we have spent a lot of time working with Algebraic concepts such as solving equations and inequalities. As we finish up with Algebra, we will move into finding the area of complex shapes, then finish February finding the volumes of rectangular prisms. If your child still struggles with multiplication and division facts, please help them study these each evening as this will only make math easier for them in the future.
In reading, we continue to work on the main or central idea, text and graphic features, and comprehension of text. Not only do we have a weekly vocabulary list that helps with comprehension skills, we also work on finding unknown or unfamiliar words in our selected readings or other content to assist the students with understanding what they have read.
We have just started working on our Black History Month reports that combine both Language Arts skills and social studies content. I’m looking forward to hearing the students give their presentations on a lot of great African American men and women and their role in American History, or are currently making history.
