Unit 1 Week 1 Student Outcomes:
- Phonics/Spelling Skill- CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) with Short a Words (man, can, nap, tap, cat, hat, etc.)
- Structural Analysis- Inflectional Endings with -s (The man taps his pencil. The dog wags his tail.)
- High-Frequency Words- does, not, school, what
- Vocabulary Words- learn, subjects, common, object, recognize
- Comprehension Skill- Identify key details in a text.
- Grammar Skill- Write complete sentences with proper capitalization and punctuation.
Unit 1 Week 2 Student Outcomes:
- Phonics/Spelling Skill- CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) with Short i Words (fit, sip, miss, kiss, win, pin, etc.)
- Structural Analysis- Double Final Consonants (miss, kiss, mitt, bill, will, hill, etc.)
- High-Frequency Words- down, out, up, very
- Vocabulary Words- city, country, bored, feast, scurried
- Comprehension Skill- Identify key details in a text.
- Grammar Skill- Identify and use correct word order when writing a complete sentence.
Unit 1 Week 3 Student Outcomes:
- Phonics/Spelling Skill- CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) with l Blends (clip, flip, slip, flag, black, plan, glass, etc.)
- Structural Analysis- Plural Nouns with -s (cats, pigs, fans, clams, etc.)
- High-Frequency Words- be, come, good, pull
- Vocabulary Words- care, train, groom, companion, popular
- Comprehension Skill- Identify key details in a text.
- Grammar Skill- Apply appropriate end punctuation (period) when writing a statement sentence.
Unit 1 Week 4 Student Outcomes:
- Phonics/Spelling Skill- CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) with Short o Words (hop, top, log, hog, hot, lot, cot, not, etc.)
- Structural Analysis- Alphabetical Order
- High-Frequency Words- fun, make, they, too
- Vocabulary Words- cooperate, relationship, deliver, chore, collect
- Comprehension Skill- Identify key details in a text. Retell events in a story using appropriate sequencing.
- Grammar Skill- Use appropriate end punctuation when writing questions (question mark) and exclamatory sentences (exclamation point).
Unit 1 Week 5 Student Outcomes:
- Phonics/Spelling Skill- CCVC (consonant, consonant, vowel, consonant) with beginning consonant blends: r-blends and s-blend (spill, spin, grab, grass, drop, drip, etc.)
- Structural Analysis- Possessives with 's (Bills's shirt. Fran's cat.)
- High-Frequency Words- jump, move, run, two
- Vocabulary Words- physical, exercise, agree, exhausted, difficult
- Comprehension Skill- Identify key details in a text. Retell events in a story using appropriate sequencing.
- Grammar Skill- Understand and identify complete sentences with proper punctuation.
