Tuesday Dec 20th Early Dismissal
Winter Break runs from Dec 21 - Jan 3. School Resumes on Jan 4
Morning Drop-Off Reminders
- To more efficiently keep the car line moving, please use front circle drive and not the parking lot for drop off. Students can be dropped off as early as 7:15am. There is typically no line at this time
- Please do not block the handicap spots by stopping in the lot to unload. Do not pull into the handicap parking spaces unless you are legally authorized to do so.
- Pull all the way forward to the sign “end of drop off/pick up zone.” Exit the car on the curbside only. Students should exit when your car stops.
- There is only one crosswalk, which is near the office. A parent/guardian must walk students to the crosswalk to wait for a supervisor to signal when it is safe to cross. Students should not be dropped off in the parking lot without a parent/guardian escort to the crosswalk due to traffic and safety concerns
- Have your student ready to exit the car when you enter the lot to save time
Reminder: No Outside Vendor Food or Drink
Boys Basketball Starts Jan 4th
We will have a parent meeting at 5PM in the gym on January 4th for all parents with athletes out for Boys Basketball.
Boys Basketball will begin the start of second semester on January 4th.
If your student has already participated in a fall sport then they should be good to go for basketball. If basketball is the first sport that your student will be playing this year then we need to make sure to have a physical on file and have your student registered in rSchool.
I am copying directions below from information sent out in the fall for those needing to it.
CLICK HERE TO GET STARTED! https://bluevalleysd-ar.rschooltoday.com/
The registration website includes tutorials for athletic/activity registration. Please note that Blue Valley is not using the system for fee collection.
Students participating in athletics, and cheerleading will be required to upload a completed KSHSAA physical, dated after May 1, 2022, with a doctor’s signature, and complete all the necessary forms to be able to participate. In addition, any students involved in KSHSAA activities that do not require a physical still need to complete the other required forms to participate. These activities include band/marching band, choir, and orchestra for high school and middle school.

Kansas Communities That Care Survey
Current Blue Valley students in 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th grades are invited to take the Kansas Communities That Care student survey in January 2023.
Blue Valley has participated in this survey for many years, and continued participation allows our staff to understand yearly trends, measuring the effect that our prevention and responsive programming has on our students.
The Kansas Communities That Care student survey is offered by schools across Kansas and is supported by Greenbush Education Service Center and the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. The survey is built on a framework of prevention to support effective, evidence-based strategies in Kansas communities. The survey is voluntary, and parents or guardians must complete a form granting permission for their student to take the survey.
Questions for the Kansas Communities That Care Survey (KCTC Survey) can be found on the district website under “useful links.” Questions are related to substance use, school climate, bullying, depression, and suicide. The survey is completely anonymous, and no identifying student personal information is collected. The Blue Valley School District receives data summarized by school and our overall district results.
Permission for the Kansas Communities That Care survey can be entered in ParentVue until December 16, 2022. For questions related to the Kansas Communities That Cares survey please contact Mindy Wells, Coordinator of Student Support Services at mmwells02@bluevalleyk12.org or Adam Wade, Director of Academic Achievement & Accountability at awade@bluevalleyk12.org.
