Meadow Hall Staff Newsletter
Week of October 3
Week of October 3-7
Monday, October 10th is Open House. We will invite families to come join classrooms from 9:00-11:00am and 1:00-3:00pm. Building services will put out folding chairs so there are extra seats available.
Our next staff meeting is on Tuesday, October 18th and will be led by our Restorative Justice instructional specialist, Bethlehem Beru. If you are able to submit a "student scenario" that would be so helpful - here is the form to submit. We'd like to make the staff meeting very realistic and practical, so having actual scenarios will do that.
Bus evacuation drill will be held on Wednesday, October 19th starting at 9:45am. Classes will be called down to the front of the school when it's your turn. We will start with Kindergarten and work our way up through the grades. Mr. Hines will be in touch with 5th grade teachers regarding which patrols will be needed to assist with the drill.
Classes will hold a "Fall Festival Party" on Friday, October 28th from 2:15-3:15pm. The parties may consist of crafts, games and food (but please be aware of any food allergies in your classroom). Grade level teams may wish to reach out via Dojo to parents and ask for specific donations or volunteers to attend the party and help with the activities. Each class may have up to two parent volunteers to help with the event. Volunteers may begin arriving at 2pm and will need to sign in at the main office. Please be consistent across the grade level in terms of having parent volunteers, activities planned and food offered.
As a school, we do not dress up in costumes for Halloween. However, if a student dresses up for the holiday, we also do not require them to change.
Please remember the expectation is to post weekly on Class Dojo. It may be as simple as a 2-3 sentences about a fun activity or something learned during the week. It could also be a few photos or short video to showcase a class project or learning.

The interim/progress report posting window for MP1 is 9/30 - 10/7.
2022 - 2023 Report Card and Progress Report Dates
MCPS Resources Folder
To reduce the number of places staff and students need to look to access MCPS’s suite of online instructional resources, several bookmark shortcuts were relocated from the MCPS Resources bookmark folder in Google Chrome to the Clever portal. This ensures applications, whether managed via Clever or not, are accessible to staff and students in one place.
Go Guardian
GoGuardian is available for teachers to use to monitor their student’s online activity. Teachers will log into GoGuardian using the Clever option and Paraeducators should use the Google login option. Teachers have the option to use preloaded GoGuardian classes loaded from Synergy or manually create their classes either by sharing a class code with students or by uploading a spreadsheet with student IDs. In order for paraeducators to be included with teachers’ classes in GoGuardian they will need to be added as additional staff to teachers’ sections in Synergy.
GoGuardian Self-Paced Course:
2022 Synergy Gradebook
Staff currently have access to the classic and 2022 versions of the grade book. For marking periods 1 and 2 staff can use either version of the grade book. At the start of marking period 3 the 2022 grade book will be the only version available to staff.
Elementary Online Course
PDO Course Number: 91112
PDO Course Name: Elementary Synergy 2022 Grade Book and TeacherVUE - [Online Course]

Centrally Purchased Online Digital Tools
While MCPS has listed a number of Online Digital Tools (ODT) available for school use on our Data Security website, licenses for several of these ODTs have been purchased at the district level. Please review the document linked here to identify what is available for use by all MCPS staff and/or students.
Technology Professional Development Survey
Data collected from this form will help drive the technology professional development opportunities offered this Fall. In addition, we will provide you with data from your school to help plan future support. Staff will have until Friday, October 7th to submit a response to the form.
