IFNSS Weekly Update

Assalamu alaikum Respected Parents & families

Ramadan Mubarak to everyone and Happy Spring Break! May Allah SWT allow us to make the most of this blessed month and bring us peace, happiness and blessings in sha Allah. The morning ASSEMBLY on Sunday, March 19th was led by our Vice Principal, Sr Shamim Choudhury who talked to students about the blessings of Ramadan and discussed the purpose and benefits of fasting. We also announced the winners of the Surah Memorization Competition as well Students of the Month for the months of February/March (see list below).

On Sunday, March 19th, we encouraged all students to participate in the "Ramadan Good Deeds Challenge". We distributed Ramadan Tracker Sheets so students can keep track of their good deeds in the month of Ramadan. There were two types of Tracker Sheets, one suited for younger students and the other one for older students where they could write their personal goals for Ramadan and then track their progress in sha Allah. Students can bring the completed trackers back to Sunday School at the end of Ramadan and get a special goody bag in sha Allah!

On Sunday April 9th, IFN Sunday School will be hosting three special events in sha Allah:

1. IFNSS Annual Quiz Competition. There will be no regular classes that day, as students in Grades 1st through 8th will be attending the Quiz Competition in the Banquet Hall as either participants or audience. So students do NOT have to bring their books etc and can leave their backpacks at home. Parents are invited to join as well in sha Allah. (See flyer below)

2. Ramadan Crafts, Activities & Games for Pre-K & KG: Students in Pre-K and Kindergarten will be participating in some fun crafts and games in sha Allah. Any Pre-K and Kindergarten parents interested in helping with planning and facilitating some fun activities and games for Pre-K and Kindergarten students, please fill out THIS FORM by Sunday, April 2nd in sha Allah. (see flyer below)

3. Ramadan Art Exhibition for 99 Names of Allah SWT: All Students in Pre-K to 8th grade are invited to show their creativity & participate in the 2023 Ramadan Art Exhibition. Choose ONE of the 99 names of Allah SWT & Create a 12x14 inch Poster to display it. Write it in Arabic using and include its meaning. Decorate it using your artistic talents any way you like. Bring it to Sunday school on April 2nd, 2023. Note: Younger students who cannot write in Arabic can also print out and color in ONE of the 99 names and then decorate it any way they like. The goal is for students to have fun while learning the beautiful names of Allah SWT. We will display all art work on the day of the Quiz Competition in the IFN Banquet Hall or Lobby area so parents and students can see in sha Allah. We have created a google doc of all the names and students can enter their choice of ONE name which they will be using for their poster. Some students already picked the name with their Quran teacher on last week at Sunday School. However, if they want to pick a different name from what they decided, that is fine as well. We would love to see a variety of names in sha Allah. (See flyer below)

We announced our "Star Students of the Month" for the months of February/March. From each grade level, 1-2 students were chosen for demonstrating excellence "ihsan" in their behavior, conduct, academics or overall performance. These students were nominated by teachers for reasons such as "being helpful, being prepared for class, participation in class, homework completion, showing EFFORT towards personal student goals, etc". We are so proud of ALL our students and our goal is to "catch them doing good" and "recognize" them for their efforts and progress. Please see below a list of all our star students this month. They received their "Star Student of the Month" certificates and also earned a prize from our office prize box. Some students did not receive their certificates because they did not come to the office at the end of the day either because they were absent or forgot to check in. These students can collect their certificates and prize next Sunday. We are proud of all our students ma sha Allah. Keep up the great work!
