From the Principal's Desk
September 20, 2021
Greetings FWAFA Family,
Due to an increase in positive Covid-19 cases in the last week, we are moving to Tier 2 mitigation strategies across the school. This means that we will no longer hold morning assemblies in the auditorium. Students will watch the announcements via Zoom from their classrooms. We have also ordered air purifiers for each of our classrooms and those should be in place and operational by mid-week. Additionally, we have re-arranged lunch so that students are more socially distanced in the cafeteria by assigning groups of students to eat in classrooms. Teachers will not have a duty-free lunch so if you would like to volunteer to cover a lunch duty, please reach out to our Associate Principal, Kede VanDyck at kede.vandyck@fwafa.org. Lastly, we are limiting the number of visitors/guests to our building.
My thanks to all of our students, faculty, staff, and families for your flexibility during these times. It is my hope that once we see a reduction in positive cases that we can go back to our Tier 1 strategies. I will keep everyone updated of our progress here in the Principal newsletter.
Creatively yours,
Dr. Jackson

The first performance of the season at Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts is the annual Student Choreography Concert! This unique event features dances made and performed by FWAFA students in all genres of dance. The 2021 concert includes performances by elementary, middle, and high school students and is filmed onstage in the FWAFA auditorium for an online release that everyone can enjoy!
This performance has been produced, filmed, and edited by our student directors: Taylor Hatfield (11th grade), Sierra Pitchford (11th grade), Kaileigh Rogers (12th grade), and Haley Urban (12th grade).
In addition, we hope you will enjoy special performances by our senior dancers in the Senior Solo Exhibition. Students that will graduate with a dance endorsement in the Class of 2022 have prepared solos that demonstrate their talents and skills and showcase their individual perspective and experience. They have made all of us at FWAFA Dance #FWAFAProud!
This concert will be available to view online at ArtsAcademics.org/LIVE starting Friday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m., for a limited time using your access code. Register to get your access code here: https://bit.ly/fwafaSCC21
We are so excited to share this student-produced concert with friends, family, and audience members watching from anywhere through this online format.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Everybody get excited for FWAFA’s upcoming production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It! I know what you're thinking. I just don’t get Shakespeare.
Fear not, our Advanced Acting class is working hard to produce Shakespeare as you’ve never seen it. It’s As You Like It as YOU like it! A fun, timeless, ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ show for just $5.00 a person.
Playing October 28-31 in the FWAFA Green Space.
Each week, the Advanced Acting class will be introducing you to the key characters in the play. This week, it is Rosalind and Celia.
You’ll be in stitches for this Renaissance comedy.
Rosalind - Gabriela Yarbrough
Daughter of Duke Senior, Rosalind is a headstrong and inventive young woman. When her father is banished, she is able to stay in the palace under the close eyes of her uncle, Duke Frederick. Rosalind’s biggest strengths are her ability to think on her feet and her care for those around her. She can often be found with her nose in a book with her cousin, Celia, and their jester, Touchstone.
Celia - Riley Cabe
Celia may be the daughter of Duke Frederick, but she does not reflect his cruelness. She loves to spend time with Rosalind and Touchstone, and make fun of the leering Madame Le Beau. Ever the rule-follower, Celia has never left the palace and is far less adaptable than her cousin, but she is willing to do anything and go anywhere for Rosalind. But why would they ever need to leave the comfort of their home?
Math Squad Available for Math Tutoring
Starting Tuesday, September 7, the Math Squad will be available for math tutoring. Any student in grades 3 through 12 who needs help on any math topic may come to room 325 (Mrs. Osborne's room) after school.
Tutoring will be held daily Monday through Thursday all year long. There will be 2 upper level high school students each day available for tutoring. This tutoring is considered "open door", meaning that you may come or go anytime between 3:45 and 4:45pm.
So, if you have a commitment after school that may end before 4:45, you may still come, and if you are able to get the help you need before 4:45, you do not have to stay the entire time if your ride is here. Students may also bring snacks and/or drinks as they are working.
If you are a parent of student and would like them to stay the entire time or have any questions about this program itself, please contact Mrs. Osborne: jessica.osborne@fwafa.org.
This program has been a huge success in the past, but the only way it works is if the volunteers have someone to tutor, so don't be afraid to take advantage of this exciting opportunity!
